Meanwhile, Superman engages the Red Cloud, still seething over the death of Melody Moore. As for the Cloud, she seems almost upset that no one thought she would have the guts to kill someone. It is almost like she feels disrespected. It takes only that sort of nudge to make someone cross the line.Superman seems to be losing the fight. So in comes the cavalry.Again, it is Supergirl leading the charge. She has a plan. She tells them to wait until she signals.We have to wait for next issue to see the end. But it is clear. Superman's dealt with some bizarre storylines over the last decades, and Bendis is treating them all as strange flourishes on a linear history similar to the way Morrison does with Green Lantern or Batman. It's an acquired taste, and so much information has been dropped that it's hard to see how it all gets resolved in two more months of story. Entertaining, but a lot of unanswered questions. Action Comics #1026 is an action-packed romp. Bendis balances his seemingly pathological need to write reams of dialogue while also keeping up the pace of the issue by showing the Superman family battle Parasite. The ending is pretty cool as well, if a little mystifying- why are the F.B.I. arresting Lois? On Leones word? Its weird but it makes for a good cliffhanger. All in all, this a pretty good comic and another example of how good Bendis has proven to be at writing Superman, even if it took him a bit to get this good. Read Full Review

It's been a long time since I looked forward to the next issue of Action Comics. However, with Bendis's run ending in December, the mysteries presented here should be mostly revealed as Action #1028 serves as a wrap up. The majority of the middle of Bendis's run is still ultimately skippable, but if one were to read the first and last arcs of his Action Comics, it may prove to be interesting or even mildly enjoyable. However, the next issue should cement the notion if this is all above average, average or below average, or simply a huge mess to be forgotten. Read Full Review

Action Comics continues to drag in quality, as both the writing and art suffer from significant drops in quality. Brian Michael Bendis over writes every single panel, with long winded exposition and incredibly dry dialogue. JRJR creates a fight scene that is hard to read and is one of the biggest messes. Just when you thought Bendis' storytelling couldn't get duller, you get this issue. This Parasite from another reality could've been more interesting, but nah. Then it's more of the same crap at the planet that's been going on the last few issues and even less resolved than before. I don't think Bendis knows what he's going to write in these issues till he writes it. I hope, but highly doubt DC has learned from this, that a big name at Marvel doesn't mean he'll be the same with them.

This issue is worthless. The Superman family pages are spent mostly regurgitating a plot synopsis at us, or repeatedly telling us the current situation as though we'd forget between pages. And then the stuff at the Daily Planet is genuinely pointless. Nothing is revealed. Ms. Leone just continues saying the same things over and over again, as if she knew she had to cue up the cliffhanger, but couldn't time it correctly. The only reason to read this issue is to find out how Superman and the others defeat that monster, and it's not worth it. You can skip this issue and not miss a thing.

In each and every single issue of this run there is always a summary of what happened, I don't know if Bendis thinks that people don't have enough memory to remember what happened in the previous issues or if he just wants to fill a page. He always emphasizes that he is writing LOSH, the fight is anticlimactic and the invisible mafia is not as interesting as he thinks it is

*Spoilers* Oh where to begin? Where to begin? Alright, right out on front street this issue is garbage with no redeeming qualities what so ever. The art continues to be something that I could do after downing a bottle of rye and falling down the stairs breaking my hand and blurring my vision. If anyone thinks John Romita Jr can draw well then they are sadly mistaken. Cross hatching and drawing lines on the bodies and faces doesn't constitute adding detail or artistic value. As for the story Bendis continues to beat the reader over the head with the concept of strong female characters while the male characters have been dumbed down to an almost absurd level in order for the female characters to solve everything or assume a leadership role. If you don't believe me we have a female FBI agent leading the investigation, Ms. Leone as leader of the Invisible Mafia, Supergirl figuring out how to defeat whatever the hell they are fighting in this issue, then she assumes a leadership role ordering Superboy(s) and Brainiac around. We also have Superman needlessly upset at Red Cloud for "killing his friend"...He knew her for what 5 issues? I'm not sure what how long an issue is but 5 months doesn't justify that kind of reaction, other than to allow Bendis to Bendis. This leads us to the conclusion that I could care less about Lois being arrested. Ok, adds nothing to the story. So all an all the issue is par for Bendis's run. Garbage and I can't wait until he's gone and takes Romita with him. more
