So right about that Fortress scene. I believe it moved after Rogol Zaar destroyed it in Man of Steel. And yeah... the art has some good parts, but I can't get over the lifeless and occasionally even distorted looking faces.

The words on the page have meaning, certainly, but the expressions Kudranski creates on the faces of the characters go so much further, to the point that in some panels you don't even need the words to understand what is going on. Jul 01, 2019The fact he says 'We are Leviathan' makes me wonder if he is also a split personality? Perhaps he sees a bit of himself in the split Rose? This doesn't necessarily jibe with my Leviathan Theory. But that is the only explanation I can think of to explain why he would want someone as volatile as Rose/Thorn in his new world order. It's taken a long time to get here…. Unfortunately, not all of it really works. Jun 26, 2019With the introduction of an older character in this issue you'd think there would be some pretty interesting things happening here, but ultimately, this is pretty boring as we're shown that there may be a conspiracy on top of a secret syndicate which I don't fully understand either and if that wasn't enough we still have big bad Leviathan making his rounds. You Don't Read Comics - David Harth
Jun 26, 2019Action Comics #1012 would have been a tremendous comic six months ago, but so much time has elapsed since readers saw the Invisible Mafia that they feel sort of insignificant. That is not a good look for what looks to be a big part of his plans for this book. The addition of Rose and Thorn is excellent, but Bendis looks like hes ready to ignore things about a character to do what he wants with them to make his story work, a hallmark of his. Szymon Kudaranskis art is excellent and buoys this lackluster issue is. The Invisible Mafia is an interesting concept, but Bendis abandoned it for so long that readers might not care as much as he does about them. As it is, this issue doesnt feel very important, and thats a bad look for the start of a new story arc. Read Full Review

Either hes aphenomenal artist slumming in comics, or hes running photos through imagingsoftware to turn them into line art. I for one really enjoyed this book it moved the story along wonderfully and was a great read! this and the superman title along with justice league flash and hawkman are the strongest books for dc in my opinion

"We are Leviathan" You can feel it's a tie-in and it has some flaws, but despite that, it's still an enjoyable read. I am not a fan of Kudranski's art, but those first few pages at the beginning and at the end looked really good. They were shrouded in darkness and bloody. Some of the initial dialogue had problems. It was odd, felt like people were not speaking to each other, but rather monologing around each other. Thankfully, it stopped around Rose/Thorne interview. She seems interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing more of her in Action Comics or in Event Leviathan. Oh, and there's Leviathan.

OK so this is the "back at the ranch" issue. Virtually no Superman. And really, what was the purpose of the scene with Superman? To establish that Lois and he were messing around in the Fortress of Solitude...that she wasn't in Metropolis? (And when did the Fortress of Solitude move from the North Pole to the Bermuda Triangle?) Art-wise...The paneling with the Rose/Thorn interview was nicely done, but I don't like the character work at all throughout the book. It's clear that he has some face models...I don't think they hit the mark. And, once again, I'm going to reiterate that Bendis is a Batman writer working on a Superman book. It's just a mismatch of skills.

This was such a pain to read. Bendis' dialogue simply doesn't make any goddamn sense sometimes. The art isn't great. I'm usually not one to be bothered by lackluster art, but the faces here were troubling. This issue was a boring, wordy """tie-in""" and I regret reading it.

THE GOOD: -Hey, Leviathan's there. I actually like Leviathan, oddly enough. I think he's a good villain. THE BAD: -This issue sucked, but goddamn, that cover's beautiful. It's always sad when the cover is better than the actual comic. -Not sure why everyone's so hyped for this artist. The inks were nice, but the faces were really weak. -Oh man, this dialogue just kills me. It feels like Bendis just randomly picks words out of a hat and tries to fit them together in the most logical way possible. -You cannot get me to care about Robinson Goode, comic! -Ugh, this issue is wordy. If anything is learned from this issue it's that editorial do not even give the most minute iota of a crap about this title. The bendis' dialogue tends to be hit-or-miss, with an inordinately high chance of failing to find its target, but this was a whole new level of bad. Is he ok? Did he have a stroke? Someone should call someone. That's all there is to it, bad title remains bad. The art is also very inconsistent and mostly just depicts the characters as off. Might be one of the worse issues of this run.
