Mighty Morphin is a great start to a new two-title approach from BOOM! Studios,deftly telling a story involving many characters in a slickly visual package that's hard to resist. The art and colors are classic Ranger cool. Not all the characters look exactly as we remember from the show but the art is strong and the characters are easy to differentiate. The art shines the most in the extremely well done action sequences. This is a great start to a brand new Ranger era and it will be interesting to see how Zordon's past will return to haunt the Rangers. Read Full Review

Mighty Morphin#1 is a great introduction to the world of Power Rangers, setting up new challenges for the titular teenagers with attitude. Mighty Morphin #1 is a good start. It's a debut that is familiar but still good. Even not being a Power Rangers fan or regular reader or viewer, the story and issue feels like something I've seen before. But, it's still a really solid debut that's done to a high quality. For new readers, it's a solid introduction to the Power Rangers. For long-time fans, there's a lot teased they should be excited for. Overall, it has something for everyone. Read Full Review

There are some absolutely stunning pages here, including the latest appearance of the new Green Ranger, and we're eager to see more of what Renna can do. If Parrott can do for Zordon for he's already done with Rita Repulsa and Alpha-1, we are in for something special. Read Full Review

Storywise Ryan Parott brings us a fairly decent opening issue. With plenty of plot points already opening up we have three major threads already opening up – Zordon's Past, Lord Zedd, and the Green Ranger mystery. It's off to a pretty good start. The new green Ranger is quite a mystery, as he's clearly fighting on the Rangers' side, but the real question is is he devoted to the cause? And as for who he is, I do have my suspicions. Drakkon would be too obvious. And I know the comic writers are smarter than the old show writers, so they won't do like they did with the Gold Zeo Ranger, making us wonder a while, then it be no one we ever heard of. I still remember that disappointment. It looks like the comic is taking a totally different direction than the show did at this point, and I must say this is way better. It's as if the series is avoiding the mistakes the old show started making at this point. Usually after 3 or 4 years, I lose interest in mos t books from the lesser publications if they make it this long, but these books still hold a great deal of intrigue. I've been reading the Rangers books since the start and I've followed them with interest even longer than I did the show. So that has to mean they're good. more

We now have two Ranger teams as the intrigue is quickly ramping up! In this issue, we focus on the Mighty Morphin team as they try to figure out the identity of the new Green Ranger and whether he or she is a friend or foe. Meanwhile, along with a new threat, Lord Zedd has returned and he’s even more deadlier than ever. He hopes to finally end the Rangers once and for all! This was a great first issue in this new era. We FINALLY get a be tter understanding of Zordon’s origin story! To be honest, I was beginning to think that Parrott was never going to give us an origin for him but he finally delivered! Lord Zedd is back and seems even more powerful than ever so I’m excited to see how he plays into all this. Now, who is the Green Ranger?!?! All fingers point to Lord Drakkon. However, I’m not so sure. I have three guesses. The obvious choice of course Drakkon, Grace Sterling, or my dark horse Matt. Time will tell. I personally can’t wait for the ramifications when the rest of the team finds out that Billy knows. Lastly, the artwork kicks off with stellar panels as well as amazing covers. I can’t wait for the next issue as there are so many elements a play and I need to see them unfold!
