13 Coins #1 isn't going to break the mold, but it is a fun read. The art is definitely the selling point of the book and gives the book its worth.

While last week's BPRD: Vampire was to thin, Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrbile (Part 1 of 3) is weighed down by the wrong people. Still, it was a decent read and served as a great jumping on point for newcomers. Let's just hope the series focuses more on the strength of Abe in future issues.

Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible Part 2 of 3 is a far superior book than its predecessor in every aspect. It's packed with plot, great art and actually stars Abe. So those who were on the fence after Part 1 should be more than satisfied with this purchase. This is how you are supposed to fill 22 pages.

Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible Part 3 is an exciting conclusion to a series that had a very slow and underwhelming start. If you managed to stick with it, then I certainly hoped you ended up enjoying this run as much as I had.

Abe Sapien #4: The New Race of Man Part 1 (of 2) looks to be the thinking man's book this month. With B.P.R.D. resting heavily on the action side of things, it's nice to escape into the mind frame of Abe as he brings us along on his journey. This book is also a great jumping on point for those looking to get in on the action as many of the events from the past are re-capped nicely.

Abe Sapien #5 seems like a bit of a throwaway issue. There isn't too much going on, and with all the excitement over in the B.P.R.D. side, Abe's place on comic shelves seems a little unnecessary at the moment. Let's hope the hiatus can re-ignite Abe's fire this October.

Overall, Alien Vs. Predator: Fire & Stone #1 is a step in the right direction for the franchise. While it may feel a tad incomplete, AvP should offer enough fan service to keep readers coming back for more. With Predator: Fire & Stone by Joshua Williamson up next, it's definitely a great time to be a fan of these universes.

Amala's Blade #1 is the start of a grand adventure that the reader will have no problem embarking upon. Whimsical and fun, Horton and Dialynas have laid the ground work for an epic series. Let's hope that the fun continues as the stakes begin to rise for the next issue.

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #105: Cold Day in Hell is the start of a great new arc, and the best time join to the Bureau. As a newcomer myself, I never once felt lost, in fact, I was completely enthralled and can't wait to see the exciting conclusion when part two is released. Until then, I'll tide myself over with next week's B.P.R.D. Vampire.

The year of Mignola pushes forward with B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #106: A Cold Day in Hell (Part 2 of 2) adding another hit to his already long list of hits. Hell on Earth #106 is a fast paced action thriller with a more than satisfying (and bloody) conclusion. Even though this issue wraps everything up nicely, fans will still be left wanting more. At least we can take comfort knowing there's always something lurking just around the corner.

'B.P.R.D.' has been firing on all cylinders lately, but with 'B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #107: Wasteland Part 1 (of 3)' the creative team has managed to outdo even themselves. This issue a loving homage to the thrills of yesteryear while planting itself firmly in the B.P.R.D. universe. 'Wasteland Part 1' is a stand-out issue and a must have for not only action and horror junkies, but for any fan of cinematic adventures.

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #108: Wasteland Part 2 is shaping up to be a classic B.P.R.D. story, one that is not for the faint of heart. With only one part left, it's going to be hard to wait for what is sure to be an awfully horrific conclusion.

All in all, B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #109: Wasteland Conclusion is a grim and satisfying ending to this dark, action packed tale. If you missed it during its initial run, make sure you do not miss the trade.

BPRD: Vampires (#1 of 5) is a little thin to make it a must have for newcomers. But those who'd follow Mignola and team down any dark alley know that slow and steady always wins the race. Hopefully next week's Abe Sapien solo series can light a little fire while we brace for 'The End.'

B.P.R.D.: Vampire was an enjoyable read prior to this issue, but now with issue #3, the bar has been raised as Mignola and crew have turned our pre-conceived notions of Anders' journey on our heads. As Anders journey's further into darkness, we will be there, every horrifying step of the way.

B.P.R.D.: Vampire #4 is a fantastic penultimate issue in an already excellent series. This is what happens when you have a creative team that is working in perfect harmony. If you missed the first 3 issues, do yourself a favour and pre-order the trade. This is Mignloa and crew at their finest.

B.P.R.D.: Vampire #5 is a great conclusion to a great story. This is Mignola and crew at their finest and if you missed the issues, do grab the trade, it's worth it.

Those looking for another reason to step into a fun-filled alternative reality should definitely check out Bee and Puppycat. It's too adorable to pass up and offers the right amount of pure-hearted humour to keep you coming back for more. If you can't wait for the next issue be sure to check out the cartoon in the meantime!

At the end of the day Blood Brothers #1 just doesn't bring enough to the table. It's not bad, there's just no room for it amongst the already outstanding vampire tales out there on the shelves. While the series may pick up steam, grabbing it issue by issue at this point just doesn't seem like a viable option.

Thanks to a fast paced script and some great characters, Bloodhound: Crowbar Medicine #1 is a great book to read on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Just like nice lager, the type Clevenger would enjoy, this book goes down smooth.

Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem is going to be overlooked and shame on you for it. This is a horror story with tonnes of heart, topped with gorgeous black and white artwork. A sleeper hit in every sense of the word.

Bushido: The Way of the Warrior #1 is the start of an exciting new series that is loaded with potential. By showing respect to both Japanese culture and cinematic story-telling, Bushido could be the sleeper hit of the year.

Thanks to some great action and outstanding art, Bushido: The Way of the Warrior #3 has set the new gold standard for this young series. With the final showdown looming, all bets are off and the week long wait for the next issue will no doubt, feel like an eternity.

Catalyst Comix #1 is an exciting new property for Dark Horse Comics. It's an expertly crafted world, one which Casey has meticulously honned, that's topped off with a cherry of vibrant artwork. I have seen the future of superhero comic books, and it's called Catalyst Comix.

Catalyst Comix #2 manages to avoid the sophomore slump and delivers an introspective superhero tale that's unlike any book on the shelves. I cannot stress this enough; Catalyst Comix is a must grab.

Catalyst Comix #3 continues the series hot streak. It's a psychedelic thrill-ride made greater by its originality and ability to throw old conventions out the window.

Clown Fatale #1 is the definition of sleeper-hit. This is a wonderful book, flying low under the radar and will no doubt be missed by many. Hopefully you managed to read this review before your trip to the comic shoppe. If not, get back out there and pick this one up.

So what happens when you mix Simone and Zub's wit with Panosian and Stewart's Homeric art? You get Conan Red Sonja: The Age of Innocence #1 (of 4) a fantastic collaboration on all fronts. One where publishers, creatives and characters all meet on even playing field and gift all readers in the process.

All in all Conan and the People of the Black Circle #1 is underwhelming and nothing more. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come when Van Lente takes the reigns of the Conan's on-going tale when Wood departs.

While the issue was a little long-winded, with an overabundance of narrative and some questionable character design, Wood and Colak are still heading in the right direction. This is a good jumping on point for someone looking to grab single issues. However, I’d suggest grabbing the Queen of the Black Coast trade if you’re looking to find a reason to like Conan himself.

For fans of the series this book is a must have. For newcomers, like myself, enjoy the treat of reading a comic legend continue to up his game. For everyone else, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Crossed Plus 100: #2 is a terrifying hit.

With East of West, Image Comics takes another giant leap forward in becoming the go-to comic label for outstanding books. A perfectly presented package, this book is something special that deserves all the praise it will rightfully get. Congratulations guys, we’ve found our new favourite series.

Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight #1 offers nothing new, insults your intelligence and if you plan of shelling out your cash for this, please grab something else instead.

Christmas has come a little early this year as Mignola treats fans to another excellent Hellboy tale. While Hellboy in Hell #5: The Three Whips may not be an action packed blockbuster, its still a great tale thats fits perfectly with a nice glass of brandy and warm fire.

Itty Bitty Hellboy #1 is a conflicting the read. The art, story and tone is just so darn cute and innocent that any ill-will towards it feels unfounded. But at the end of the day, a reviewer has to go with their gut, and my gut says 'meh'.

Because of it's brick pace and unabashed love for adventure, The Phantom #1 is the perfect book to read on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Dynamite hits another King character out of the park so I implore readers to please check this book out. 4 issues is not going to be enough.

King’s Watch #1 is the comic book equivalent of a joy-ride in a hot new coupe. It’s fast, fun and danger lurks around every corner. Now bring on the solo adventures!

If you hate laughter, pop culture and think breakfast is overrated then avoid Knuckleheads like the plague. If your idea of a good time involves the Tardis, drunken English chicks and an extra side of bacon, then guess what? You and Knuckleheads #4 were made for each other.

Legends of Red Sonja #1 is a fantastic read thanks to the excellent synergy between the creative teams. Each page feels as if it had been a blast to create which in return makes it a blast for the readers. This is definitely one legendary comic.

Lobster Johnson: Satan Smells a Rat is a great read for a rainy day. A self-contained story that requires nothing more than 2 eyes and a noggin'. The book would be a throw-away to anyone else, but the creative team managed to convey a number of powerful themes in just 22 short pages making this book definitely worth a grab.

With Saga, Comeback, Luther Strode and now Lost Vegas, Image Comics has proven they have a keen eye for creator based projects and I for one am a huge fan of their products. Lost Vegas #1 is a great start and definitely a series to bet on. Let’s just hope McCann and Leedoesn'tfold under pressure. (See what I did there?)

Mind MGMT #12 is a perfect read. Wait, scratch that, Mind MGMT is a perfect read. So what are you waiting for?

For those of you who have been following along, wondering if it’s still worth a grab, then rest assured, the answer is yes. Mind MGMT is still the most complex, rewarding and original series to grace the comic stands. Mind MGMT transcends its own medium and elevates itself into the pantheon of fine art.

Over the Garden Wall: Special is lovely read. It's a family friendly tale that doesn't hold hands and isn't afraid to use its own intelligence.

It may not be the most original story, but Polar: Came from the Cold is a visceral treat. For those longing for the glory days of Frank Miller,or anyone looking for a gritty revenge tale than look no further.

f you are looking to throw your money in the garbage but don't want to get caught not recycling then S.H.O.O.T. First #1 is the book for you. Just make sure you call your finical advisor after words-- he's going to want to slap you.

It’s getting harder and harder to review Saga. Each issue thus far keeps getting better. Issue ten continues to raise the bar set by this series itself. The ending is extremely climatic, and heartbreaking, leaving the reader with a dropped jaw and a teary eye. The next issue cannot come fast enough.

There’s not a whole lot more praise I can give Saga, I’ve said so much, so I’ll let you fill in the blanks; Vaughan and Staples have _______ a comic so ________ and ________ that it’ll make you ______ with _____. So go buy Saga #11 and get one for your friend as well.

Sledgehammer 44 is a great read for anyone who is a fan of fun, action-packed comics. Being only a two issue series, I already fear this may not be enough. Sledgehammer is an interesting character that you want to spend more time with. So please, do pick this up in hopes we'll get to spend more time him.

The Mignola-verse has grown even larger but Sledgehammer 44: Lightning War #1 is a welcome addition. Offering something a little darker and a lot heavier than what one would expect, this is a book that is fitting of its winter release.

Spawn #229 isn’t the worst comic I’ve read, though I can’t think of a worse one off the top of my head. The story is bland, the art is uninspired and I cannot recommend this book. Great cover though! Oh well Spawn, we’ll always have SNES.

Like the previous post-Simmons issues, Spawn #250 is more miss than hit. Jim Downing is still a weak character caught in a gorgeous package. Let's hope Spawn Resurrection coming next month can wash this taste out of our mouths.

Thanks to a great premise, fantastic art and tonnes of heart, Star Mage #1 is a great book with tonnes of promise.

Thanks to great characters, an even better premise and expertly crafted art, The Dream Merchant is well on its way to becoming another in Image’s long line of hits. This special double, debut issue is packed with 52 pages of dream hopping excitement and a must have for sci-fi fans. This is one time where the reader definitely has to go deeper.

The Legend of Luther Strode issue #3 is all action and a great read. By introducing more mythology surrounding Luther’s strange talent, the series is opening itself up well beyond its main character. The art is outstanding and detailed and the inclusion of bonus materials makes this a must buy. Though if you are not following the story you may want to wait till this is collected for trade.

Action packed, expertly plotted and jammed with detail, The Shaolin Cowboy #1 is bound to create some new die-hard fans, this reviewer included. Now where do I get those back issues?!

The Star Wars #1 is a timeless tale and a refreshing addition to the franchise. Here's hoping this alternative universe springboards into its own saga. But with the groundwork laid here, it's safe to assume some wheels are already in motion.

The Star Wars #2 isn't a perfect issue and while it may become bogged down with some boring political speak, the climax more than makes up for it.

From our first glimpse of the demise of the Killjoys, to Korse's secret affair, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: Chapter 2 is another great tale in an already sprawling story. A haunting epic that benefits from its fan service and drop dead art. Way, Simon and Cloonan are laying out the groundwork for our generations Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and I for one, am glad to be a part of it.

Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better, the dream team turn around and drop The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys >>> Chapter Three: BLIND on us like a mega-ton bomb. We need more comics like this, plain and simple.

With the finish line in sight, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys>>> Chapter 4: Run! is revving it's engine and firing on all cylinders. I'm not too keen on perfect scores, but I was hard pressed to find a reason against awarding one. Killjoys, you are perfect, now make some noise!

Those looking to be challenged with a cerebral thrill ride should look no further than The White Suits #1. With just 22 short pages, Barbiere and Cypress have given the world a new group of villains that readers can get behind. While we may not know just who the White Suits are, we can rest assured knowing they are going to take the comic shelves by storm.

While they may have had good intentions, Tomb Raider #1 lacks any substance to stand out in the crowd. It's not a complete failure, it's just not special, and nowadays isn't that worse?

As the sunsets on another Transformers series, it is safe to say Transformers: Regeneration One #100 is not only a fitting conclusion, but a glorious showcase of the talent behind the line. The series will be greatly missed yet, as Furman points out, the saga will never be truly over, it will live on in our hearts and minds.

Thanks to it's outstanding creative team, and a fresh approach, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #1 is more than just a reboot, it's a victory lap for everyone involved!

Rucka looks like he has another smash hit on his hands with Veil. This gritty and grimy world is filled with just enough heart and mystery to keep readers on the edge of their seat and all but ensure their return to the next issue. The question remains however; who is Veil? and is that really an answer we want to know?

Marz may be easing into his return with Witchblade #170, but make no mistake, the man has something big in store and this issue is just the calm before the storm.

I feel I’m coming across a bit harsh on the book, while it does have its problems X #1 was still an okay read. It had good action and even better art, there just isn’t much else. But Swierczynski is a great writer so hopefully he can turn it around in the next issue.
