The issue is a great starting point for those who haven't been following the series so far. It introduces a titanic new character named Canyon and every panel is a visual delight.

The series kicks off with this lovely "day in the life" story for Gwen as a nightmarish serial killer prowls the city.

This is another delightful issue that delves deeper into Fat Charlie's character while slowly building the mythology of this intriguing world.

The story is loaded with atmosphere and feels like the best combination of a classic mystery story and one of H. P. Lovecraft's more terrifying tales.

Reading this issue felt like watching a great classic film like "The Thin Man", with some great banter between main characters Jenny and Joe and a chilling atmosphere of Lovecraftian horror throughout.

The outstanding art and writing on this series perfectly captures the beauty, wonder and excitement of Barbarella and her pop-art universe.

This Barbarella miniseries (especially this issue) has beautifully detailed art and the writing makes Barbarella and her supporting characters compelling. It has the same psychedelic feel as Jean-Claude Forest's classic strips.

The book has some thrilling action scenes and Barbarella is in full James Bond mode here. It's a fun but abrupt conclusion to the miniseries.

The book has a wonderfully classic Silver Age feel, with Luthor and Joker's bickering and the thrilling appearance of a third DC hero making the book incredibly entertaining and fun.

The book builds on elements from 'The Omen' and 'The Exorcist' to create a world that's uniquely brooding and disturbing.

A stereotypical character and watercolor art mar this dark tale of pirates and madness.

Most of the issue shows Hetta interacting with the soldiers, but there's a great amount of tension here and a good climax to the issue.

Black Hammer: Spiral City #1 is a good starting point for anyone unfamiliar with the Black Hammer universe. It's grim but main character Inspector Insector is not to be missed.

The book is filled with atmosphere and takes its time letting you experience life with the characters.

Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time #1's artwork is stunning and trippy, and the book captures the feeling of watching a great old Universal Horror movie.

Captain Henry and the Graveyard of Time feels wonderfully old school, like reading a classic Jack Kirby Strange Tales issue from the '70s. It's fun, fascinating and bizarre, in the best way.

The book is an entertaining combination of a Spaghetti Western and classic monster movies, with intriguing lead character Carmen Red Claw.

Conquest 2099 #3 is epic space opera and incredibly fun, with Dracula raging across worlds in his massive starship as a ragtag band of 2099 heroes race across the galaxy to stop him. If you're not reading this miniseries, you're missing out!

'Creepy Presents: Alex Toth' shows off Alex Toth's in grand style, showing how the creator of the Space Ghost and The Herculoids had a bold innovative art style that elevated every story.

Crocodile Black #1's Danny has the potential to be a much-discussed character in the future.

Dark Regards #1 presents a likable main character but and there's a lot for Black Metal fans to love here, despite the fact that many of the comedy moments fall flat.

The book's mostly filled with good (some great) stories, including a Swamp Thing tale with dazzling art and a great Justice League tale from the classic Pre-Crisis League era.

Unfortunately, most of the book shows Tee, the main character of the book, being tortured and humiliated in every way possible, yet hardly any pages are given to develop her character before the assault happens.

Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale #1 is another Luana Vecchio masterpiece, filled with existential dread and real-world horrors all wrapped in magnificent artwork.

This miniseries continues being one of the most fearless and beautifully disturbing horror books on the shelves. If you're a horror fan, you need to be getting this!

'Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale' #4 is gory, disturbing and poignant, taking you into the darkest areas of the internet and the human psyche.

Dust to Dust #2, like the best horror films, has a palpable atmosphere of dread throughout, primarily due to the fantastic art of J.G. Jones.

Ada the vampire is a uniquely anarchic character, much different from other vampire characters of the past and she makes the book a compelling read.

Ada continues to be one of the more fascinating characters currently in comics, neither good nor evil, only focused on surviving and survival isn't easy for a vampire on a tropical island.

Epitaphs from the Abyss #6 is too timid and lacks the risk-taking of the old EC comics.

DC tells a fascinating story of an alternate timeline where Jason Todd survived the Joker's attack in the 'Death in the Family' tale.

Despite the offbeat art style, 'Godzilla Rivals: Vs. Manda #1' is an enjoyable read from cover to cover.

Godzilla's Monsterpiece Theater #1 is a blast and so much fun, with famous real-life and fictional characters interacting with Godzilla and Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby. It's like a Stan Lee version of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen".

Godzilla: Monsterpiece Theater #2 is thrilling and incredibly fun, as Jay Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, a cyber Jules Verne and a time traveler team up to end Godzilla once and for all.

Dracula vs. Godzilla, anyone? This issue is incredibly fun, a love letter to old-fashioned creature features with tons of action and heart.

This is a wonderful kick-off to the miniseries, wonderfully written with a perfect mix of surrealism, brutal violence and humor.

Hello Darkness #1 contains two good stories but the bulk of the issue is filled with generic tales that fail to produce any chills.

This debut issue plunges you into a world of intrigue akin to Jason Bourne and James Bond, with wonderfully clever and eccentric heroine Maggie Salinger.

An entertaining fusion of old-fashioned superhero action and grindhouse horror with a fascinating lead character.

Jumpscare #2 introduces a monstrous new villain and expands the universe, with dazzling art, fierce superhero action and a heaping helping of horror.

Another great mix of grindhouse horror and superhero action reinforced by stellar art and explorations of deeper themes, like who are the real monsters in this world?

This first issue delivers some great swordplay and combat, as swashbuckling as a great Indiana Jones film with Nazi spies lurking in the shadows and fiery monsters with centuries old secrets.

Both stories are filled with action and wonderfully high concepts, but a one-page synopsis of past chapters would significantly improve the book for new readers.

Monster High is eternally delightful with great writing, eye-popping art and a large cast of Universal Horror-inspired characters.

Those unfamiliar with the Monster High universe will find a lot in the book to love, with two stories filled with great art and writing.

Monsters Are My Business (And Business is Bloody) #1 establishes an interesting variation on a post-apocalyptic world with a trio of characters that are instantly likable.

New Champions #5 is a super fun read, with the team members' personalities clashing and an epic battle in the issue's climax that sets up a promising future storyline.

Phoenix #9 is another epic issue that debuts Phoenix's bold new look as she battles the power-mad Adani in the nightmarish Shadow Realm.

The issue is incredibly touching and serves as a great farewell to actor Alan Rickman. Jay and Silent Bob, as usual, are hilarious throughout.

'Red Sonja Attacks Mars' #1 wonderfully blends heroic fantasy, science fiction and horror as it cleverly pits Red Sonja against Martian zombies.

This issue kicks off the miniseries in grand style, with dynamic action, some deeply touching moments and a great new nemesis for Sam.

The book is a pulp fiction lover's dream, with four tales filled with two-fisted, photon blasting, sword-fighting action.

Sectaurs #1 adds depth to the story of the Sectaurs and their world of Symbion, with lots of great action scenes and Game of Thrones-style politics.

Issue #2 continues expanding the Sectaurs universe into an epic heroic fantasy, with eye-popping art, lots of brutal swordplay and some great plot twists.

'S.I.R.' #1 delivers a double-shot of romance and furious action, combining some genuinely heartfelt moments with some dazzling 'Kamen Rider'-style motorcycle combat.

There's a feeling of dread and atmosphere throughout the book, with complex main characters and vivid artwork amplifying the story's chills.

Sonja Reborn #1 falters in introducing a new version of Red Sonja that heavily leans on the "stranger in a strange land" concept to mixed results.

This issue has it all: robot space kaiju, dimensional portals, and laser pistol-wielding assassins. It blends everything that makes Jonny Quest and Space Ghost so great.

There's an incredible amount of story packed into this issue and it's all fantastic, with Spider-Girl and Hulkette given time to shine amidst the book's wall-to-wall action.

Star Trek: Red Shirts #3 is a masterful twist on the Star Trek formula, adding heavy doses of horror to create a unique and super entertaining story.

Star Wars: Boba Fett Black, White & Red #3 gives us a ruthless, brutal and intimidating Boba Fett that's been missing for far too long. Welcome back, Boba!

This issue is a great start to the new series, highlighting everything that makes Doctor Aphra one of the best characters in the Star Wars Universe while taking her in a bold new direction.

Star Wars: Jedi Knights #1 introduces several fascinating new Jedi while delivering some epic action scenes across two exotic worlds.

It's a spectacular issue told with splash pages filled with gorgeous art. A fun and rollicking adventure tale unburdened by decades of lore and one of the best Star Wars tales I've read in ages.

The issue is a fun romp through parallel dimensions for Nico Minoru and Scarlet Witch as they battle through hordes of Dungeons & Dragons-style creatures.

Do yourself a favor and pick up this issue (and last issue if you missed it). This story and team are a blast and there's a lot more action to come. This is the best the Suicide Squad has been in ages. A great and fun read that will have you waiting impatiently for the next issue.

With one of the best incarnations of the team ever, some great character moments and brutal action, Suicide Squad: Dream Team #3 is one of the best books of the week.

Dreamer has never been greater than she is here, in a book filled with blazing action and surprising plot twists.

This a fantastic debut to the miniseries, featuring Jack Kirby-style steampunk gizmos, a courageous lead character in Lumen and the promise of adventures around the world.

Steampunk lovers unite! This issue has lots of fun moments between Captain Nemo and Lumen, as well as a slam-bang cliffhanger ending in the Arctic Circle.

The Bees' story is fascinating, giving insights into their music and life in Lithuania, including the terrors and triumphs of performing in Eastern Europe in the 1960's.

Though it's hampered by showing Dynomutt's origin, the book solidly captures the fun and action of the original Blue Falcon and Dynomutt animated show.

'The Creeping Below' #1 simmers from front to back with dread and atmosphere, mixing revenge thrillers with primordial horror to create something special.

The Goddamn Tragedy #1 mixes a battle against the elements with domestic abuse and the supernatural to create a chilling slice of horror.

The story suffers from characters that feel generic, but offers a twist on the usual spy story narrative.

The Herculoids #1 brings the classic animated show back in grand style, sticking to the basics of the beloved team while delivering lots of action.

This issue (as well as the previous two issues) has a great mix of two-fisted action and comedy, and the mystery of Ben's old friend's link to Kingpin deepens.

Thundarr, his allies, and his world are reintroduced in spectacular fashion here, with elements of heroic fantasy, underwater adventure and time travel.

The book has the spirit of a Russ Meyer film. Violent, surreal, sexy and incredibly fun to read.

Issue #2 (like last issue) captures the feel of watching a really great exploitation/grindhouse film from the 60's and 70's.

The book is pure drive-in film goodness from beginning to end and concludes the miniseries on a thrilling note.

Overall, this is a solid start to the mini-series that sets Allison off on a quest that I'll be looking forward to following in the issues to come.

The new Harbinger team has a wonderful mix of powers and personalities reminiscent of the classic Giant-Size X-Men version of the X-Men. It's a great addition to Valiant's rebooted universe.

Black Sheep is a fascinating and brutal villain and the book does a great job giving you the feeling the heroes may not be able to stop them.

Fantastic art and an intriguing new version of Bloodshot are introduced here but the book is hampered at times by too much exposition.

This issue kicks off the series and the main character in spectacular fashion. It has deep world-building and a plethora of intriguing characters, including Shadowman himself.

Vampirella #1 continues Christopher Priest and Ergn Gndz's fantastic run on the character, with Vampirella dealing with motherhood as a new menace appears.

Violent Flowers #2 continues one of the best vampire tales in years, with stunning art, a heavy atmosphere of dread and a European flair.

Welcome to the Maynard is a total blast, so much fun to read and lead character Pip is iconic.It's a miniseries I hope eventually gets made into a film.

'Werewolf by NIght' #1 feels like experiencing a great grindhouse horror film from the 1970s, with cults of vampires, gothic castles, gory violence and an epic battle with Elsa Bloodstone.

The book is loaded with atmosphere, and two wonderfully complex main characters who may be more frightening than the demons they battle.

Witchblade #3 masterfully mixes superhero action with David Cronenberg-style body horror to create another wonderfully riveting issue.
