What a delightful book this is! This is just pure fun through and through, highly recommended. 5 out of 5!

This comic starts off cute and to some degree stays cute but it ramp things up to an interesting mashup between the perspectives of a child and an adult. Like Roger Rabbit its gonna be entertaining but you can see that it's also gonna get dark. I can't wait to see how that works out.

Another modern deconstruction of the idea and ideal of what a superhero is but this one doesn't add the humor of Kick Ass or the Machiavellian complexity of Watchmen but instead focuses on keep things completely down and dirty and grounded in reality as much as possible. Well worth a look.

This was a great issue, just flawless in my opinion. It really had everything I want in a comic book and more and actually got me excited once more about a character I had given up on. It really shows what a difference a change in creative team can make. Move over cosplay Batgirl, the real thing is back in town! 5 out of 5!

It's an unusual turn for Batman but one that was both entertaining and thoughtful. I recommend it. 5 out of 5!

If you like crime drama, mafia movies, tragedies and romance, hell if you just like good stories don't pass this book up!

Without a doubt this is comic worthy of the old Conan Marvel comics by creators like Thomas and Buscema. 5 out of 5!

If you are a fan of noir or crime comics in general I think you will find a lot to like with this series. Don't except heroes or honor though, this is much more akin to films like Bar Fly than The Maltese Falcon or Chinatown.

With everything you need to get right into this story I don't think you will be disappointed if by picking up this series with this issue. 5 out of 5!

Even knowing nothing about the previous issues of this series I found myself sucked into the story wanting more. 5 out of 5!

If you've ever been a fan of DC's Freedom Fighters and Elseworlds this book is for you, and even if not this is just a solidly satisfying comic book experience that combines superheroes with alternative history.

If you like South Park by way of Tarantino this is the book for you. It is pure black comedy and vicious parody all wrapped up into one. 5 out of 5!

With the final chapter told Friendo takes cynical to new heights. It's social commentary of the sort that is like a stick getting slowly jammed through your eye. If you dig movies like Brazil or Robocop and aren't afraid to take a few lumps while reading a comic book this one is for you! 5 out of 5!

The new Green Lantern series is of too a great start. This has the makings of a classic run in my opinion and I hope they can this up. I strongly recommend this book.

I honestly couldn't even nit pick this book. Donny Cates continues to justify himself to me as my favorite Marvel writer of the past two years and this art team just adds to the experience exponentially.

While I still don't empathize with everything is his story, I have come to see him as not just a terrific entertainer but as a real American hero. Being able to read the climactic account of Dee's battle on Capitol Hill while flanked by Frank Zappa as a stalwart ally and even John Denver as an unlikely wingman is worth the price of this book all by itself.

A nice mashup of genres, an engaging story, interesting characters and descent art. Yeah, I want more of this. 5 out of 5!

Garth Ennis returns to the Punisher with a very strong effort, telling a gritty and emotional tale that is paired with some excellent art. A welcome offering and I hope Marvel continues on this trajectory.

What a pleasant surprise this comic is, it's a well told story from top to bottom. This is a strong recommend from me, go check it out. 5 out of 5!

Frankly it is nice to see a hero being heroic, this is the sort of thing that has fueled the comic book industry since its inception. This comic has drama, excitement and even some humor and most importantly it engaged me enough not only to want to see the next issue but to collect the previous issues of the series to get the full story. This is what a comic book should do and be.5 out of 5!

This was a great first issue a series that both honors and deconstructs comics from two different eras at the same time.

Buy this book if you haven't already, in fact go back and get the whole series!

This series is off to a great start with and interesting plot, solid art and relatable characters. Plus I enjoyed both the themes being explored and the set up to the story. Be sure to check this one out.

All said this was a very enjoyable book that I'm certain a wide range of readers would enjoy. There is a bit of something for everyone and the passion put into the project is evident. Maiden fans will doubtless be entertained, especially by the gobs of Eddie art throughout but for me this book has the same sort of appeal that Heavy Metal and Marvel's Epic line did in the 80s.

An interesting facet in the Age Of X-Man storyline which is an obvious inversion of the Age Of Apocalypse. It should prove interesting to see where this all goes.

Marvelous X-Men is a thought-provoking What If with a twist in that it ties directly will likely directly affect the 616 universe in a similar way that the Age of Apocalypse did. It's still an engaging story on all levels. Bring on issue 3!

It's a fine and welcome continuation of the animated series!

This is a fantastic gateway into the Energon Universe. It was informative and entertaining. My only negative comes from the sequence in Cobra-La where I did not yet understand the world some of the images become confusing in the organic kingdom as I tried to determine what I was seeing, similarly this affected the clarity of a couple of the pages as far as storytelling went, having only a sound effect to indicate why the citizens were running in fear. But this is a minor hiccup and it passed quickly.

Ghost Planet is a solid piece of storytelling in both art and narrative. It both satisfies my nostalgia and my modern sensibilities as a fan of this genre.

If pulse pounding, revenge driven action and drama with a tragic bent i your thing, you won't be disappointed, and the art is glorious ta boot!

Kodoja pays great homage to the Kaiju classics in both story and art and its appropriately apocalyptic feel.

A solid issue that moves Otto's story forward on every level and from top to bottom is handled quite competently by the entire team on the book.

Aero is not at all a bad dip into manga for Marvel and I think its a pretty great idea soliciting actual mangaka for the work. Its really givng the book a best of both worlds flavor.

This is a pretty darn potent issue and while the art is not terribly exciting its good enough combined with this story to make for a fine read. Check this issue out, its worth it!

This book is very intriguing and should really attract the attention of anyone interested in something outside of the superhero genre.

Old fans will love this book for sure and hopefully it can snag some new ones. 4 out of 5!

This is a mostly good comic and worth reading even if it ended up annoying me slightly. The best thing is that the characters feel believable and genuine and that makes then easy to care for.

A really great sci-fi action manga with a fascinating premise, great characters and arcs with epic action but sadly I can't give it top marks because of some very bad lettering choices.

While there are other more serious Power Ranger titles out there this one spoke to my nostalgia. It managed to capture the spirit of the show but was still something adult fans could enjoy and best of all, it expanded on the story at play and the over all mythology of Power Rangers. If you liked the old show you will probably enjoy this. 4 out of 5!

This is a lovely bit of nostalgia given a fun little twist which leads to a new way to tell these particular kinds of stories. Good art and and an enjoyable read for older comic fans and new ones as well.

A good start to a new Vader story with the added bonus of bringing a cool character from the 80's comics into the modern Star Wars cannon.

Honestly this was much better than I expected. I've seen a few crossovers with the Crow over the years and most of them sucked so this was a pleasant surprise and worth checking out. 4 out of 5

This is shaping up to be an interesting story. The art is solid if not celebrity caliber and the storytelling is mostly spot on. Definitely worth a look.

Overall though the story is pretty good. The interactions between the feds and the locals are quite nice and the characters feel very human and fleshed out. The author does a nice job of capturing the perspective of the native Alaskans and the agents. It just seems that this story is for people who have never heard of Wolverine before, otherwise the it doesn't work as intended.

There are some real issues with storytelling as well. The fight scenes are poorly choreographed and clumsy looking. During a family fight amongst the Conner's, Peter doesn't look shocked embarrassed for his host but just calmly takes a drink. At least MJ and Mr and Mrs Conners look upset. In one panel Kraven's spear knocks off Arcade's hat but in the next it has magically pierced it. I don't get it, I loved Bachalo's work in Dr Strange last year but this…

I've read the previous issues in this particular arc and they are pretty good but this issue, man oh man, it's a real stand out. For me its an instant classic.

I do have a con that doesn't involve story or art that I will address here. Marvel, please choose where you place your ads better. Put them in between scenes, not in the middle of them. A couple of times I had to flip back to understand what was happening because I had lost context and continuity due to the interruption of 3 pages of ads. That aside this is a book I can recommend. The pros far outweigh any cons, this is an exciting story and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. 4 out of 5!

The comic has a grate conclusion with a nice twist but its not all good as there are issues writing wise. 3 out of 5!

While this is the story of two heroines this issue is a Barbarella story for sure.

This comic isn't a steak dinner but its a hell of a good burger. If you are in the mood for some fast food fun Criminal Macabre should fill you up with comic book goodness.

Pretty decent comic and good enough to keep me interested. I'd be willing to read more. I'd say if you're in the mood for some sword and sorcery give Shades of Magic a look.

Its a fun idea that is executed well story wise but the interior art is ok at best and the cover is misleading. Still worth a read though, so check it out.

It's interesting enough for me to want to read more but I don't this is a series I'd keep in my personal collection.

While the story is pretty intriguing and I'm curious enough for more the art it a bit of a slog to get through.

A pretty decent introduction into a new comic series but it not without some flaws in the execution. Worth a look if you are looking for something new and original in you superhero genre especially with a Christian slant check it out. 3 out of 5!

The art however is a thing of beauty in this comic. Each story segment is handled by different artists given each a distinctive feel and look. Both sets do a grand job from pencils to inks to colors I have no complaints. In particular I love the way Reis draws capes. If you are gonna do Superman comics you gotta draw some awesome capes.

A pretty good story so far and worth checking out but the colors of the book are my biggest gripe. Its all a bit faded to my eye which is in danger of blending.

Definitely worth a look, check it out if you haven't yet.

X-23 is a YA book dressed up in superhero tights. It might garner some interest among fans of that genre as there are some interesting ideas applied but I think it fails overall as a superhero book. Tamaki should look to Terry Moore for how to blend slice of life with drama and action.

This isn't a bad comic and I think it might have some fun things going on, but I just don't get enough out of this issue to really recommend it. I'm a bit 50/50 on this one.

The story didn't hold my interest but the art is solid. If you're into slice of life though this may be the comic for you.

This comic borrows heavily from from older comics which both works for and against it but there are some good character moments with art that strikes me as merely ok.

I liked the comic well enough to want more because the Elephant Man works perfectly as a Victorian superhero and the series is building up to something big but I wish it was a bit more unique in its approach. 2.5 out of 5!

This is really the sort of writing you want to see in a Sandman adjacent story. Its layered, subtle and complex, giving enough information to hook you in but leave you wanting more.

This should have been a swashbuckling, rollicking adventure with dark undertones but instead its a series of events and characters who ignore basic story logic. Go read Conan or Red Sonja instead.

The story is a little on the average side but it does set up future subplots. It is muddled by poor art and some confusing word balloons in the texting moments.

Jack Kirby's Fourth World doesn't deserve this sort of treatment but the art at least quite good. 2 out of 5!

If this comic interests you I'd recommend finding the back issues and starting there, otherwise I don't consider this a good jumping on point.

Given that this comic has some of my favorite characters in it, I wish I could say this was fun or exciting but instead I found it to be boring with confusing character portrayals.

Going by this issue I can't recommend Lumberjanes. The story sort of meanders around with no real advancement and the art is inconsistent.

I'm pretty lukewarm on this one and I'm hoping reading the previous issues will show me there is a story here worth checking out. I'm certainly not swayed by the art.

I just can recommend this book, by itself it has very little to offer a new reader. 1 out of 5!

I think the idea behind Gallows Men has potential but it just didn't deliver in any meaningful way.

Its a hot mess, skip it.

I've seen far better Archie crossovers over the years that were either inventive, interesting or funny. RAVMBAV is not one of them I'm sad to say. I'd pass on this one.

This comic is a delightful breath of fresh air. It takes the tropes of the classic superhero and gives us a take on it that isn't a grim and gritty deconstruction but instead gives us an honest look into the heart of a hero who is also a man, with all the flaws and merits that come with being human without sullying the idea of what a hero is.
