LEIA ORGANA - IN THE CLUTCHES OF THE ZANTARRK STORMTROOPERS! An assassin unmasked - and it's not who you expect! The Millennium Falcon - cornered! And a message from the CLONE WARS ERA sends shock waves in the present!
Reyna Oskure proves to be an intriguing adversary for Leia. Her use of Stormtroopers to capture Leia shows she still maintains ties with remnants of the Empire, which is surprising given how her plans faltered during the Battle of Jakku when she formed a fragile alliance with Ubrik Adelhard. I’m only buying these books for the retro 90’s action figure covers … but decided to start reading them … a decision I now regret. This all has been done before and much better in the “old Expanded Universe” … now called Legends. I’m sure Segura is a fine writer … but he is missing the mark with this series, somehow he forgot that Star Wars is supposed to be fun. This might have been the flattest and dullest comic I have read in a long time. I’m pretty sure I skipped about 20% of the word balloons, I can not recommend this comic - sorry. Not saying that other people won’t like it - just that it’s not what I want from a comic called Star Wars.
It's amazing how much writers can go from one side of the spectrum to the other depending on the characters they are writing. Jed Mckay, for instance, does great with Moon Knight, but when it comes to team books, he sucks. Smae here with Segura, who writes Dick Tracy very well, but doesnt' get Star Wars in the least. Leia refuses Luke's help, but then gets captured. She uses the trope of faking a stomach ache to draw in the one and only guard, who she kicks in the chest (through his armor) and knocks him out. Absolutely horrible writing. I've got one more issue in me before I drop it...again.
