A TALE TO MAKE YOUR SKIN CRAWL! Something rotten has taken hold of Hell's Kitchen, and now it's taken hold of Matt Murdock, A.K.A. DAREDEVIL, as well! They say that beauty is only skin deep, but in this case, it doesn't even get THAT far! As even DD's battle-worn black armor isn't enough to protect him from a fungal outbreak set to tear him apart…literally!

    AIPT - Christopher Franey Jul 2, 2025

Despite some misdirection on the cover and in the solicitation, Daredevil #23 is a character-rich installment. The split structure works, the players intrigue, and there's clear potential for emotional growth if the story is allowed to breathe. There's a growing sense that this arc might be accelerating toward an early conclusion, especially with rumors that the volume ends at issue #25. Still, hopefully, Ahmed has enough room to let Matt build stronger ties in this new life and earn some much-needed reconciliation, without feeling rushed to the finish line. Read Full Review

This issue felt odd. The writing reminded me of more simplistic silver age writing, from the "jealousy" angle early in the book that felt forced and unnatural to the emotional cliffhanger "we're through!" type final panel it just read like a much older book. I've enjoyed Ahmed's writing up to this point, but not so much in this issue. I did like the encounter with Taskmaster and the art was pretty good so I'll just chalk the writing in this one up as an anomaly.

I really like the art for the last few issues. I did like the fight between DD and Taskmaster. It was enjoyable. Nothing revolutionary.

    Plot
This comic shows how Nyla begins to suspect Matt's nocturnal activities.

Daredevil tracks down a series of murders and runs into Taskmaster, where the two begin to fight in spectacular fashion. Each tries to predict the other's moves, so their powers are practically very similar and instinctive.

Elektra arrives to help Daredevil, and Taskmaster escapes. She tells Matt that she has a lead he's going to follow, but that she'll let him know when she has it.

This comic appears to be simple plot filler; it doesn't contribute anything new or advance the story; it only introduces Taskmaster.

    Art
It's very detailed and features well-rendered anatomy, as well as classic action scenes.
