I don't think this is a depressing ending. One of the things about being hopeful in life is that at some point, reality hits you. At some point, you recognize that things are bad, they are likely to get worse, and there really isn't much you can do about it. At least not on your own. And there are a few ways you can take this, but I feel the best way is to have hope in spite of that, and use that more
