X-Men: Red #11

X-Men: Red #11 has been a ride that you wish never stopped. I remember when Cassandra Nova popped up as the villain and I was wary of what this could turn into using an old foe. Never more was I happy to be wrong about the way I felt. This was X-Men storytelling at its best when the fight for peace took on a whole new meaning. No twists, or need for shock value. This was a thoroughly satisfying and well done conclusion. Taylor does a great job of showing these heroes coordinating as a team and working together to stop the threat of Cassandra Nova. Jean Grey's time as leader of the Red team has come to an end, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. X-MEN RED #11 is an explosive issue, with tons of excitement and character development. As an added positive, the surprise ending offers something for X-Men fans to look forward to in future titles. Read Full Review

A very good if not premature ending to the best team book at Marvel. Tom Taylor understands what makes the X-Men great. He also showed a remarkable ability at writing the voice of Jean Grey and has positioned her as the clear leader of the X-Men and a voice we shouldn't let return into what many saw as boring and flat in previous years. The ending is just as high stakes as the lead up. If you have been reading you will likely keep reading, but as we transition into Age of X-Man and complete the weekly story of Uncanny X-Men I hope Marvel has learned something of what made this book work and to hopefully let Tom Taylor continue the spirit of this book in another X-Men title. We have ended al the color code X-men titles. I imagine that Weapon X will one day get its ending as well, but as Marvel resets the X-Men my hope is not everything comes back and we still move forward. I don't think Professor X and Magneto should be what they were. Let a character like Emma Frost be the new Magneto. Let Jean Grey be a better idealist in the new age. What works best for the X-Men titles is that there can be a title for every genre and that there can be a title that can speak to what is happening in the world. There should be an X-Man title about what it means to be underground and illegal in your own nation (Gifted). There should be an X-Men title about what it means to be a superhero team (Astonishing). There should be an X-Men title that is adult oriented (X-Force). There should also be a book that is all-encompassing and Mutants as a nation and race taking on the Avengers-level threats (Uncanny/Red). We will see. Great work Tom Taylor more

probably my favorite Marvel run from Tom Taylor, its either that or Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. tom taylor is my favorite comic book writer, and any person who wants to get into x-Men needs to read this book. It's fantastic!

This issue felt rushed, but I still liked it. I think this series did a lot for making Jean Grey likeable again. At least for me it did.

was she unlikble before this? i'm confused, also, many would argue that this series made jean unlikeable, granted most of those people are jaded comic book store owners who parrot YellowFlash and Diversity and Comics but im sure they know what theyre talking about.

for the record I dropped this series after a few issues cause I didn't want to poke the bear by reading and giving my thoughts on such a divisive book that i havent heard the best things about. plus, I rarley read comics issue by issue anyway

I think "The Hate Machine" had terrific potential. If it were the backbone of a longer series, with some solid side-adventures salted in between its chapters, it would have been great. Told straight through, it got terribly repetitive. And I think that might be an even bigger problem if you read it all at once instead of month-to-month. #11: It needed a *lot* more storytelling horsepower - better words and *especially* better art - to conclude the series in a properly triumphant manner. A few extra pages would have helped, too.
