Age of X-Men Alpha is a blazing return to a familiar era that may not offer everyone reading it something super original but what it does offer, it does with tons of style, rock steady character writing and absolutely gorgeous art that takes you straight back into that era like we never left and for that it should be applauded. X-Men of Apocalypse Alpha #1 will win skeptics over with Simone di Meo's show-stopping visuals and Jeph Loeb's ability to reintroduce fan-favorite characters with energy and heart. While the narrative occasionally circles the same points and the main mission of the issue feels thin, the combination of nostalgic callbacks, accessible character work, and sheer visual spectacle makes this a worthy return to one of Marvel's most iconic alternate universes. X-Men Age of Apocalypse Alpha #1 is a brilliant art showcase, but the writing is an exercise in stylistic chaos. Its an issue that looks fantastic but feels thin on substance. The punchy dialogue and rapid pace deliver a quick hit of action, but they don't give the reader enough time to invest in the characters or the plot. Plot Magneto sends Rogue and Gambit to rescue Morph, who discovers on a secret mission that Forge is imprisoned in Apocalypse's Citadel by Mr. Sinister. In this dystopian universe, Magneto managed to kill Apocalypse, and his X-Men continue to eliminate his minions like Havok. Magneto, Gambit, Rogue, Storm, and Morph rescue Forge from Mr. Sinister. They both discover that there is a parallel universe where Apocalypse still lives, as does Xavier. Magneto sends the X-Men to the 616 universe, our universe, to eliminate Apocalypse and destroy this era that, according to them, should never exist. Mr. Sinister is working with one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, Holocaust. An interesting story that tells what happens when Apocalypse is defeated. However, you must have read some Age of Apocalypse to enjoy and better understand this sequel. Art It captures the artistic and sequential tone of the comics from the 1990s, the era in which the Age of Apocalypse event was launched, while also refreshing the designs with contemporary art slightly influenced by manga. Summary Magneto and his X-Men discover our universe, where Apocalypse exists, and decide they must erase this reality more
