X-Men / Fantastic Four #3

X-Men/Fantastic Four is one of the best titles being put out by Marvel right now. The politics are heavy, thought-provoking, and written with beautiful ease by Chip Zdarsky. I am down to see where this goes, and the characterization of our favorite mutants is spot-on perfect! Read Full Review

X-Men/Fantastic Four #3 is a great comic. Chip Zdarsky was the perfect choice for this mini-series. He writes the best Doom anyone's seen" well since the last time he wrote the character in Marvel Two-In-One. More of Doom's plan unfolds in this issue, but the ultimate goal of his plan remains to be seen. I continue to marvel at just how well-executed this book is on Zdarsky's front. He's spinning an enthralling tale that could have ramifications for years down the road. It's an exciting adventure crafted with love by someone with a very solid grasp on the characters and the story-at-hand. That being said, the art is the weak part of X-Men/Fantastic Four #3. It looks like the pencils are fairly rough, letting the inkers do a bit of the heavy-lifting. The colors are solid, but can only do so much to salvage the work. The art team for this book is simply too big to yield a singular, cohesive vision. That may work for some, but for me it's the only downside in what is an otherwise engrossing tale. Read Full Review

X-Men/Fantastic Four #3 does a great job escalating the conflict between the two teams to their next natural point. Doctor Doom's role in the story provides an even greater level of intrigue not just to this crossover but the current direction for the X-Men. How that ends up relating to Franklin Richards is all tied together nicely by Chip Zdarsky, who just continues to impress with every comic he writes. Read Full Review

There's still plenty to enjoy here, despite the significant flaws of this book. Zdarsky excellently captures the voice of these characters and the interactions feel real and honest, especially now that the need to create conflict between the FF and Krakoans isn't paramount. It's an acceptable set-up for the next, final issue of this miniseries but really could have been much more if it had had a little more time to get onto the page. Read Full Review

I have been really wanting to fully enjoy X-Men/Fantastic Four, but #3 makes it really difficult to fully get behind. Frustratingly vague and meandering, X-Men/Fantastic Four #3 might not be the blockbuster crossover that "Dawn of X" fans or Marvel wanted. Read Full Review

Prelude: X-Men/Fantastic Four has been one of my favourite Dawn of X titles even if it technically doesn't count as such. Let's see how Zdarsky goes with this issue. The Good: The action in this is great. Zdarsky's Doom.... man it is so great. Love the infographic. Really like the X-Men and Fantastic Four in this. Dodson's art is great. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Another perfect issue. This has been quickly proving to be an excellent title and I can't wait for the final issue.

My favorite issue of this mini series so far. I love how this book is echoing the classic X-Men/Fantastic Four story by Chris Claremont, with Doom holding all the strings and offering help to a mutant, although in this case he's helping the Fantastic Four family mutant. This book also brings Doom back in a way that makes him feel like the smartest person in the room and the most powerful, I haven't read a doom like that since Hickman's Secret Wars. This book excels in the way that you get every character's motivations, so none of them feel written out of place. Very excited for the finale

Terry Dodson’s art is terrible, which is a shame because I really love the covers. Anyways, thank you Chip Zdarsky for this reminder on how badass and superior Doctor Doom is, because no matter how many times it’s been proven, I always need a reminder every now and then. Doctor Doom is the only character in this whole comic who’s acting sensible, and I love him telling Charles that he’s worked for his power, Charles was just born with it. Zdarsky worded that perfectly. Best issue of the series so far

-This was definitely Doom's issue -Doom feels like he knows the power that has arrived on the island and makes sure to be ahead of the curve -Love the debate between him and Xavier -This issue really sells how on edge every faction is(except for doom)

The mutants and the FF make an uneasy alliance and then ally again, even more uneasily, with Doom. Both sides scheme toward a doublecross but, of course, Doom comes out as the double-crosser supreme. As to the slightly-disappointing internal art, I think the growing roster of assistants and backups on the title page tells the tale: The Dodsons just aren't up for the rigors of drawing a full monthly book on their own (I'm assuming they have additional cover commitments to handle at the same time and those take priority).

This was probably the best issue yet. It is starting to turn into your typical enemies team up for the common enemy but its well written and looks good. I enjoy the doom dynamic.
