X-Force #14 continues to right the ship of X Of Swords. Its a fast-paced issue but gets across everything it needs to. Percy and Duggan dont waste a panel- everything builds the story. Readers, X OF SWORDS is losing steam quickly and I don't even think Doc Browns super logs could even get this train moving at 88 mph. Now, as a stand-alone issue, it wasnt that bad. It was humorous (enough), moved incredibly fast, was easy to follow, and even squeezed in two quick, graphic battles. Nonetheless, the X OF SWORDS event is wearing thin, becoming pointless, and even trivial. Is this tournaments foundation and continued outrageousness turning into Saturnyne wanting to jump Captain Avalons bones? Is that the crux of this entire event? Readers, the weight and validity of this event is slipping away. Lets hope that the last two issues this week change my mind. Read Full Review

Joshua Cassara delivers some awesome art in this issue. Everything from the characters to the action looks amazing. There is a well done mix of visual moments and Cassara does a great job of delivering that imagery. Read Full Review

i love the direction this event has gone. i don't think anyone saw it going this way it has been very unpredictable and unique. there are so many possible directions it might go i for one am loving it! as always the writing of benjamin percy is superb and i was very impressed with the art team especially joshua cassara

"Welcome to X of Swords, the crossover event where everything's made up and the points don't matter!" We reach full-on absurdity as the contests grow ever more ridiculous. Arakko is way in the lead and who knows how high the scoreboard goes? Only Saturnyne. (Sudden thought: Maybe this is a "last mutant standing" contest?) But this chapter ends with a very awesome, very fatal Krakoan win; that should mollify readers who think this is all getting a bit too "Monty Python." I love the art, I love the humor. This isn't the contest I expected -- it's far, far better.

This was an issue that was solid overall, but is also helped by certain stronger moments throughout. We've gotten to see how absurd some of the contests have gotten, but I especially liked the contest between Wolverine and White Sword, in which Wolverine sheds tears after seeing the faces of everyone he's killed. Also, I thought this issue ended really strongly. Storm killing Death was absolutely fantastic and that interaction alone makes reading this worth it, in my opinion.

XOS Ch. 17: With this event being so heavily tied to Excalibur its kinda cool seeing how weird and whacky the event has become. A common criticism I've had of Howard's Excalibur is that it lacks the whimsical silliness of Claremont and Davis' Excalibur run. Well, here we finally have it in spades...even though this wasn't an issue of Excalibur and not written by Howard. Too little too late I suppose (I'm probably dropping Excalibur). As much as I did enjoy this issue, I think ultimately X Of Swords just isn't living up to the hype. It seems to lack a clear direction and it clearly didn't need 22 chapters.

It's crammed and all over the map. Cassara's art saves this one again! It has neat concepts and scenes like Storm's fight but this event should not be stretched over 15 issues and need it crammed in 3. Horrible set up on the editors part.

I feel like the point of this issue was to be funny, clever, and shocking... it wasn't. I really loved the X of Swords idea, that allure is fading fast. I don't understand the Pogg fight, like at all. Why is Captain Avalon still in this? A dance competition? *sigh* w.e Things I did like: Wolverine and the death mirror. Neat concept. Storm's fight. Although making her 'powerless' was pointless.

I'm officially done with this trash. Hickman & Co think they're smart and funny, but this is offensive. Stopping all the main stories to show the fans mutants competing in arm wrestling, food competitions and drink games? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.
