X-Force #3

Overall, X-Force as a series continues to stand out to me in a crowded X-Men comic book lineup. The action heavy approach works perfectly, especially because Ed Brission, Dylan Burnett, and Jesus Aburtov do a great job of moving the story forward with these action scenes, meaning it never just serves as filler to eat page space. The story is just never stuck in place which I love. It's like a Fast and Furious movie a bit, some of the team might get a little lost in the shuffle of events, but the series as a whole is a fun experience to me with enough character to keep you invested. I really like the storytelling balance the creators achieve here. This issue is almost all-fighting, all-quipping, non-stop plot development. But that Cannonball/Cable scene is a perfect demonstration of the capacity to balance out the action and keep the characters three-dimensional. X-Force is rolling along as a fast, loud story, but it's also quite a smart one. Read Full Review

Being able to pause the murder-porn for a second and have a "I know you're both my mentor and my mentor's murderer so I need you to work with me to make this work" was the second most intense Cannonball action I've seen (The first, of course, being when he punched way up taking on Gladiator). Keep stuff like that coming and maybe bring Scott Summers into the action somehow and this book has the potential to scratch a much needed X-itch. Read Full Review

This is by far the best issue at this point, the action, the drama, the relationships, all of this is so well written. Something interesting in this issue is the fact that we can see some evolution in the X-Force members relationships. Ed Brisson is killing it with this series. All pieces starts to unite in a very good way. The talk between Cannonball and Kid Cable is powerfull and Boom - Boom is just amazing. I know some people hate the art but for me is just incredible, it fits very well with the tone of this X-Force and the colors are incredible. Did't see coming what Ahab did to the President's son.

The Transian Incident builds toward a climax, with surplus villains on the field, Boom-Boom joining the heroes, and Cannonball and Kid Cable carrying the characterization ball for the issue. I'm a little unsure about the plot and character developments, but the snappy dialogue and action-heavy pace are impeccable. While the art is stylized in a way that doesn't particularly tickle my fancy, I recognize it's done very well.

This comic doesn’t really do all that much for me! It’s okay, I don’t mind reading it, but it’s just not special to me, and a big issue for me is I feel like I’m not connected to the characters at all.
