WHAT IF...CYCLOPS HAD STAYED WITH MADELYNE PRYOR? Imagine a world where Madelyne Pryor, the Goblin Queen, had survived the Inferno. What would have happened if Cyclops had saved her soul? What would have happened if he and Maddie had raised their son, Nathan Summers? What would that world look like? And why would that be the most terrible thing to happen to mutantdom and Earth itself?

What If...? Uncanny X-Men #1 delivers exactly what a good alternate-reality story should: a familiar choice that sends history down an unexpected path. Duggan uses the premise to explore Cyclops from a deeply personal angle, examining what happens when he prioritizes family over the X-Men. Fans looking for a thoughtful Cyclops story with plenty of mutant history packed into its pages will find a lot to enjoy here. Read Full Review

Definitely a bit of a downer, but an interesting enough chain of events. Enough cool stuff that you would like to see more of.
