Venom #14

Venom #14 is a fun addition to Dark Web, with so much to enjoy. This a plot with a lot going on, combining hidden agenda and manipulation with an awesome battle between two characters who are rarely in the same circle. Dark Web brings figures together with loose connections and makes them work brilliantly. But at the same time, the progress of the Venom mythos is still growing. Venom #14 drafts Eddie Brock into the conflict of Dark Web, making for a light read with few contributions the the book's main narrative. However, it does deliver on an entertaining confrontation between Venom and X-Men powerhouse Synch, which makes up for most of its shortcomings. Read Full Review

I love this Al Ewing turns zeb wells' event disaster into a masterpiece with this tie-in and develops eddie to continue his cycle now becoming beddlam

Visually, this issue has a bit of a "cruise control" feel. But the general level of artistic talent is so high that even a middling effort produces nice results. On the script front, though, the author performs minor miracles. He turns an event that's tantamount to character assassination for his protagonist into a meaningful bit of character development and keeps the ongoing plot moving forward. He even off-handedly develops other authors' characters (Chasm, Hallow's Eve, Synch) in a deft way. Put it together and you get a comic that isn't great, but is definitely good--far better than I expected given how this event has treated Venom up to now.

A good issue here, even if it has more focus on Janine than the titular character. I did fairly enjoy how Ewing wrote her, so I don't really care that much. The highlight of this for me is the fact that we've finally gotten to the point in the timeline where Eddie transforms into Bedlam. I'm really interested to see how this ends up going in the next issue.

It's way better than it has any right to be. For an event as messy and badly written as Dark Web, Ewing does make this work. I do wish it focused on Eddie more than Janice.

Not really even a Venom book until the end. It was OK, I guess. Not really that exciting.
