Weird Science Marvel Comics - wolfcypher
Nov 19, 2020You'll have to weigh some serious plotholes against the otherwise fine quality of this conclusive issue of Cate's Beyond arc. Read as a whole arc in one sitting, this story in its entirety is a blast! The most satisfying moments of issue 30 probably makes this my favorite issue of the five-act arc. Read Full Review

Nov 18, 2020Donny Cates continues to spoil the Venomaniacs with hit after hit. Venom #30 is a great example of how to end an arc by mixing the right amount of action, emotion, and intrigue. This is such a great time to be a Venom fan. Read Full Review

Nov 29, 2020With King in Black coming so soon, I was put off by "Venom Beyond" at first. It is a distraction when we know that Eddie should be preparing for this epic encounter. All in all, it is worth the ride for the great character moments and a glimpse into the possibilities that could await Dylan. Now the path is clear for Knull and his forces and I cannot wait to see where we go next and who is left standing. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Aaron Phillips
Nov 18, 2020Overall, as a huge symbiote fan I enjoyed the series, but it was more of a comforting "oh that was nice", as opposed to "I think my jaw just hit the floor!". I truly do believe that a short story was needed to buy the creative team some time before the huge symbiote event of the holidays truly kicks off, something that wouldn't impact the prime reality. Ultimately it reflects a "what if" storyline than anything long lasting, fun, but inconsequential. Read Full Review

Nov 18, 2020There's certainly hope for King in Black, considering Absolute Carnage was solid, but this issue doesn't instill a ton of confidence for what's next. Read Full Review

Comfortable ending which was unexpected but made total sense. I'm appreciating the depth of Eddie and Dylan more than I expected. I wish there had been more of a stand off between the 2 symbiote factions but I do respect everyone surviving.

This was my least favorite story arc of cate's venom run it wasn't bad really just rather mediocre in my opinion but this was one of the better books of the arc. I love how much Eddie Brock has grown as a character and that shows in this one. I'm glad we are back to the 616 universe

It was a much nicer and less action-packed ending than I thought. Venom Beyond wasn't the greatest arc of Cates' run, but it wasn't bad by any means.

This story took a strange turn with this final issue. I think this arc had some of its potential squandered because of the art choices. I think Juan Geddeon would've been a better fit to finish out the whole arc. Also, I don't like time skips. I doubt they were actually gone from the 616 universe for a year though. I just hope this arc has some follow through and it wasn't just to tell a story about how things would be different if Anne survived instead of Eddie. That has a place but it just doesn't seem like the thing to lead up to a big event with. But I don't know what happens in King in Black, so maybe this was super integral and I don't know it yet. All this being said, I still enjoyed the issue. It's Donny Cates writing it and he's a more

" I lost you too. When i was a baby. You at least have memories of the things you lost..." - DYLAN BROCK

The heroic assault on Codex fades into the background and touching family connections between Annie and the Brocks come to the fore. That's a surprisingly sweet way to wrap up -- although its dominance over the conflict testifies to the weakness of this arc's premise. But decent art and genuine heart make this a good comic.

There were some parts that I feel that could have been done better but overall it was a pretty good conclusion. Ready for king in black.

The whole Beyond arc was fine, ready to move on from it though.

This arc was fine, although was the weakest so far. While I do wonder whether any of this will have any repercussions (besides the Maker stuff), it seemed quite fillerish.

Hooray the alternate universe is over. And not a moment too soon, my patience was really waning there!

More mediocrity from Cates on this title as of lately.

Cates and Company finally concluded their alt universe arc "Beyond", and as much as i love this series, this arc (tied with the war of the realms arc by Ellis) is the all time low point of the all time low point of the last 30 issues. The art still felt amateur and no different then the last illustrator. It felt too.. rush and inconsistent.. too animated. And I'm all for the style but not in this execution. In regards to the script, we all know from issues 1-10 and Absolute Carnage, Cates writes some good a** venom; So what changed? The arc was rushed, the dialogue was really choppy and bad. For example, read only the dialogue from virus in his appearances and its... anything but depth or purpose. This arc feels like wasted time for king in more

Filler. Inconsistent artwork on the Venom Beyond story arc. Cates took interesting characters like Codex and Virus and just made them completely useless. The "emotional breakthrough" to solve the conflict within this arc felt cheap and silly. I was very hyped for King in Black, I still am, but not as much as before. This arc started out so well, but ended as a mess. Hopefully King in Black is a step up. 6/10
