Uncanny X-Men #12 sets the return of the X-Men on the right path. This was a fast read and to the point, but ultimately gave everyone a picture of how terrifying it is now to be a mutant. Uncanny X-Men #12 is a mile a minute thrill ride. Rosenberg sets things up quickly and gets right to the action, giving Larocca and Rosenberg a chance to shine with some great action sequences. It will be great to see where all of this is going and what role O.N.E. plays in all of it. The issue is a solid one picking up from the last one's setup and delivering an action packed story that is a new take on building a team. What's revealed, and where it potentially goes, is exciting and for long time X fans, to see this direction feels like a new take on the classic gathering of a new X team (something that's happened many times before). For the first time in a long time, I'm enthusiastic about the direction of the main X-book. It seems funny in the face of so many X-titles on the stands right now, but un-diluting everything has been a breath of fresh air for the X-brand. I can't wait to see where this book goes next and I'm backing it to maintain this level of quality. It's already action-packed, well-written, marvellously illustrated, and electrified with creative ideas. With comics being a visual medium, it's rare that the script is the thing that pulls the book through but Matthew Rosenberg is taking advantage of every opportunity he has to write these characters and so far he's doing a good job of it. Read Full Review

Matthew Rosenberg made great use of the returning Cyclops and Wolverine to keep the story in Uncanny X-Men #12 moving forward. In the process he was able to set things in motion an intriguing story arc for X-Men that are still around. As long as Rosenberg can avoid the pitfalls of the franchise this could very well be the successful rebirth of the Uncanny X-Men comic book fans have been hoping for. Read Full Review

The rescue offers some welcome faces in Magik and Havok (whose fate at the end of this issue is far more murky than I'd like) and a few others I'm not so sure of. Either way, the rebuilding of the X-Men gets going in short order here. There are obviously other mutants out there, both old friends and enemies, and I'll be curious to see how many of them may show up in the next few issues as potential new members (or potential new problems). THE GOOD: -Another great issue. Rosenberg is doing wonders to this series. -It's a small thing, but I really like the way each issue is opening. It's a cool little detail. -Salvador Larroca's art is awesome. The characters are portrayed really well. -Can Rosenberg write a Wolverine series? He's probably too busy, but he'd be miles better than Charles Soule. -The action scenes in this issue are just really awesome and cinematic. -I liked the ties to Rosenberg's other X-comics. It's always nice to see a writer acknowledge their previous works. -I really truly felt bad for Guido. But I also loved how nothing was overplayed or anything. It was sad, but not forced emotion, very natural. -The end was good, I'm excit ed for next issue. -I also just really like the dialogue. It's something Rosenberg excels at. THE BAD: -I mean, I didn't like as much as the last issue, I guess? more

I believe it! He seems to be a great writer. I'm loving this so far, and his Astonishing X-Men was fun. I didn't read his New Mutants, but I'm going to check that out in trade. Speaking of, I was very happy to finally get the trade of 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank in the mail today.

The issue has a good panels and for me the art and colors are ok for the tone that Rosenberg puts in the story. This number follows Cyclops and Wolverine through a kind of prison where they find some mutants. My only issues are the lack of definition of the Cyclops personality and the death of a mutant that feels a bit forced. I like the relationship that is developing again between Cyclops and Wolverine. The most important thing like I said before is that this story actually really feels like and X-Men story kind of "Back to the Basics" and for me it's ok.

This issue wraps up the cliffhangers to Rosenberg's New Mutants and Astonishing X-Men runs in one fell swoop. It also gives us the new X-Men team. It's super entertaining.
