  The X-Men discover another mutant, the Blob, & bring him back to the X-Mansion, where Xavier offers him membership. When the Blob declines, the X-Men then realize their mistake since the Blob now knows their secret identities and location. Recognizing that he is now a threat to the X-Men, the Blob decides to take them out first & leads his band of carnival workers in an attack on the X-Mansion. (Cover date: January, 1964)

  Bad choices lead to X-men and their identity at threat.. Interesting premise with lot of action to cherish.Blob is hell of a weird choice to be a villain making this one a variety indeed.

  I must admit, I really enjoyed the story at first, especially the idea of them trying to recruit a new member, but failing to convince him to join. But... The logic simply dies in cringe here. When Blob finally refuses, shocked Professor just tells that he needs to make Blob forget about X-Men and their identities. But why did he need his lab for that? He just easily destroyed the memories of the Vanisher in the previous issue... And by the second half of the issue the story just turns out to be the X-Men vs Blob's circus. Stan Lee really loved to make his heroes fight some evil circuses... The story would be better if Blob accepted their invitation to the team, but was actually expelled for something and then decided to take revenge for th e X-Men banishing him. Or I don't know, he could just become a real villain that X-Men would need to stop. But the story as it is is just silly. It simply doesn't work, X-Men didn't save the world here, just their secrets. Which they shouldn't have been revealing to every random person anyway... Well, it was also weird, that they forgot to draw Blob's hair on one of the frames... But this issue tried to establish Hank McCoy as a clever guy more, plus Jack started to draw Iceman's face. The other thing I didn't like is that Prof have feelings for Jean... It's like all other members of the team weren't enough to simp for her... I hope it just gets forgotten. But anyway, at least Blob is a cool character, much better, than the Vanisher. more
