It's your standard Spurrier joint: an amazing amount of content crammed into a single issue. While that doesn't always work, I'd argue it works like gangbusters here. This is delightful (though I question the utility of throwing Dagger in there). It's also beautiful. The art is very good in its broad strokes and its visual storytelling, and truly brilliant in its subtleties, like the way Sable unmasks Nightcrawler.

As with last month, I am not a fan of Spurrier's X-writing but this has been good. I blame editorial for small things like Dagger saying "moaning" instead of "complaining". She's American, Spurrier is British, get it right folks. Docking .5 for Nightcralwer saying "F@#%@ off". He's not a character who curses.

I wasn't as crazy about this one as I was about the first issue, unfortunately. However, this is still good and I enjoyed it a fair amount. Aside from the story not being as entertaining as Issue #1, I found the sudden romance between Kurt and Silvija to be a bit odd. I think it's something that would have been better had it been built to for a longer period of time, but it just felt a little out of the blue here. Either way, I still enjoyed this and I'm interested to see how their relationship develops.

One of the surprises of last month, I was not expecting to enjoy the first issue of Uncanny Spider-Man as much as I did. I'm happy to say issue #2 is another really fun read. Emphasis on the fun. I've experienced the two sides of Si Spurrier this week. His Flash #2 was a chore to read, whereas this was an unexpected treat. I also loved the flirting between Kurt and Silver Sable; are we seeing the beginnings of a romantic relationship?

I wasn’t a fan of most of Si Spurrier’s previous Krakoan work, but his writing on Uncanny Spider-Man has so far managed to surprise me in how contained and linear it’s been. That doesn’t mean his writing his now perfect, women still feel like they’re written by a caveman and I don’t think Kurt would ever curse, but the plot itself is at least interesting and can be followed without need a guidebook.
