The Mighty Thor #705 cements this series as the longest running quality book that Marvel has released since the first wave of Marvel NOW! titles. I don't think there was ever a time where I felt that I didn't look forward to the next issue or story arc. Whether it was Odinson or Jane Foster the story was powerful, and the emotions weighed heavily. This final act as Thor was enough to make you choke up because that is what it means to sacrifice yourself for the something more than yourself. Read Full Review

The Mighty Thor #705 is a damn good chapter to transition into the finale of Janes story. It hit me like a Mjolnir in the feels, and I kind of hate the creative team for that, but I also have to thank them for crafting the greatest Thor story ever told (thus far, Ive still got a #706 to read). If you havent been reading this thunderous epic, go find the trades/hardcovers/singles and prepare yourself to experience an adventure that is the pinnacle of what superhero comics can be. Black Nerd Problems - Oz Longworth

    Mar 22, 2018

This book doesn't get enough credit for being the single best, most consistently exciting thing happening in Marvel Comics for at least the past five years and #705 proves exactly why. Jane Foster gets a gorgeous, well-paced warrior's end that could reduce any reader to a weeping puddle. The message is simple: buy this book and then buy another for a friend. This kind of fantastic heroism and nobility is superhero comics are all about. Read Full Review

The Death of the Mighty Thor is the best comic story you'll read this year, hands down! This will go down in the annals of great stories alongside The Dark Phoenix Saga and The Infinity Gauntlet. From the writing to the art, it's a magnificent example of what comic book storytelling should be. Do not miss out on this epic tale! Read Full Review

THE MIGHTY THOR #705 perfectly captures the strength of its creative team and its lead character. With Jane Foster close to death, she lifts her hammer one last time to take the battle to Mangog. With a plot and character arc befitting this goddess, this is an issue you need to pick up. Read Full Review

The Mighty Thor #705 is a fitting conclusion to the battle between the Thunder Goddess and the Mangog. Its both sad and fun, it carries itself well, and the art brings it all together in spectacular fashion. Jason Aaron and company knocked it out of the park yet again. This one comes strongly recommended. Give it a read. Read Full Review

Overall, Aaran and Dauterman have given us another stellar issue. They do this while also answering one of the biggest questions long time readers have had about the Lady Thor. This appears to be the last time we will see of the Lady Thor, but she will cast a long shadow on the title for years. They also set up the return of the Odinson as the one true Thor in upcoming issues. While divisive at times I felt that the Lady Thor was the best of Marvel's diversity push and it is kind of sad that it appears to be over. Read Full Review

Now that Thor is dead and the truth about her identity can be revealed, I look forward to seeing how the Marvel Universe reacts. Not to mention I know that I will be sobbing like everyone else at saying goodbye. It's terribly sad to see such a strong female character go after all the anger of introducing a "female Thor" to the Marvel Universe. Jane and Thor together were strong not just physically, but mentally in their hardships against supernatural forces and the reality that humanity must face on a daily basis. Sure you have strong female characters like Wonder Woman, don't get me wrong, but she is considered an Amazon and doesn't have to deal with humanities struggles such as Cancer. Read Full Review

This issue has a sense of finality and permanence to it, but also a sense of lasting impact " it would be a shame for Jane Foster to be the "one true death" in comics in the long run, but at least in the short term, The Mighty Thor #705 there's a sense that Jane's passing will have a lasting impact on the story Aaron chooses to tell in the months to come. I can't say exactly what was expected of the issue but it definitely wasn't this. While it's a satisfying conclusion in some ways it also feels like it's one that's playing it safe so that Odinson can return to hold the mantle of Thor. Aaron has weaved an epic Thor run and will continue to do so, so in some ways there was an expectation that despite the build up, some different ending might have surprised us. While not a bad issue overall, The Mighty Thor #705 lacks an expected punch. Read Full Review
