S.W.O.R.D #4 is once again a very good example of how to tie a line-wide event into a franchise but still use the book to further the main characters' development as well as tie in several ongoing plot points established in other books in the Reign of X line. S.W.O.R.D. #4 is an action-packed romp that uses its cast wonderfully. Its hard to know whether Ewing set out to show how little of a threat Knull would actually be to the heroes of the Marvel Universe, but he does show that, and the book is better for it. Schitis art does a great job of setting the scene and giving the whole thing the kind of momentum it needs. S.W.O.R.D. has been a fun ride so far, and it will be great to see where Ewing and company take it. Read Full Review

S.W.O.R.D. #4 brings its King in Black tie-in story to a close and the series can get back on track for what it's supposed to be. We finally see the fight it set up issues ago and the art and colors by Valerio Schitti and Marte Gracia is stellar as always. I'm really starting to like Manifold as a character. Never really cared much for him, going all the way back to Hickman's Secret Warriors, but him taking the spotlight in this series has definitely made me a fan. They make his power seem so much cooler here.

It was cool to see a zombie Cable get blasted , but I cant even remember the characters name's here and I love the "teleporter" who speaks to the universe, I love the leader who gets drunk to quiet her mind but she's interchangable with the brains on X-Force. The girl who blasted Cable , she slept with Cyclops ? Cyc gets all the dimes, damn. Again all these characters are cool and I look forward to the future here but I am ready to move on from King In Black. And man , all the way in space ? Manifold and Frenzy drive Knull off of Kid Cable and Krakoa. Magneto takes charge of recovery efforts with his trademark sinister charm. This is a nicely-paced action story with some outstanding hoorah moments, and there are intriguing hooks laid out for future plot development. Characterization is problematic in both the dialogue and the art, though. I found myself asking "wait, who's this now?" far too often. I think getting slammed with a crossover event on its second issue did this title no favors.
