A SPIDER-GEDDON TIE-IN!
Otto Octavius leaves the moniker of Doctor Octopus behind and once again becomes THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN! If you think you've already read the most intense and surprisingly heartbreaking Superior Spider-Man story, prepare to be wrong. Otto is going to prove to the world that he's the most effective and (to him at least) the best super hero in the world. But when a villain that overpowers him by so much shows up in San Francisco, there's no way Ock can win, right? Can you see Otto smirking from where you're reading this?

I'm so glad this character is back in his own book. Gage and Hawthorne clearly have interesting plans for the character and the continued use of familiar characters from the original run is a great sign the high bar will continue to be achieved. This is the most unique take on Spider-Man and he's back, better than ever. Read Full Review

This was a good #1 that gets new readers up to speed and shows you that Otto isnt always as superior as hed like to be. Superior vets may not get as much pleasure out of it as I did, but with this beginning under our belts, Im hoping Christos Gage ramps things up next issue. I will be reading it! Read Full Review

An impressive start with Superior Spider-Man #1 that reminds you of everything you enjoy about what this hero has to offer the Spider Family. Whether Superior Spider-Man, Elliot Tolliver, or Octavius, there is something to prove here by the way that this former villain tries to be the best version of himself. It won't be easy, but the thrill is in following all those bumps and hurdles. One that just so happens to take the form of an ex, and the other being one of the most powerful forces you can encounter in the universe. Read Full Review

The issue is a solid one delivering a new start, after what feels like a false one, and a direction that's interesting. There's a lot to like in this debut and for Spider-Man fans, or those interested in a reformed villain, it's an issue to check out. First issues can really be judged if they get you to want to come back for a second and this one succeeds in that and then some. Read Full Review

I like this issue, but I'm a little annoyed by the on-and-off nature of Otto's Spider-Man facade. Hopefully this run will pull it all together. Read Full Review

There's some fun here with Doc Spidey taking down a C-list villain before a far more serious threat takes the field. Honestly, I'd prefer more of Doctor Doom as Iron Man than Doc Ock as yet another Spider-Man, but fans should enjoy this first issue. For fans. Read Full Review

There's nothing inherently wrong with Superior Spider-Man; the art is solid, the colors pop nicely, and the dialogue is well-written. But this new Otto Octavius is honestly just hard to buy as a protagonist. Read Full Review

Great start. Really excited for this series, Otto has become one of my favorite characters in the MU. Cage already showed that he wrote Otto great in Spider-Geddon (as bad as that series was). Artwork is okay, not best, but certainly not worst.

Absolutely on board this one. Cage obviously can write better than his Spider-Verse 2 lacking a real story event. Kudos to him on this one. The art is outstanding!! Mike Hawthorne pencils and angles are perfect. Add Von Grawbadger's inks + Jordie Bellaire's splendid colors on top and it's simply beautiful.

A great start for something I'm sure a lot of people were approaching with caution. With there being so many Spider-people in the current Marvel universe, their didn't seem to be much need for a new Superior Spider-Man comic beyond popular demand. However, Christos Gage proves that he means business as this issue does exactly what a #1 issue should do. This feels like a direct continuation of where the last series left off (with everything that happened in between of course), which is a good thing, and promises to take Otto in new directions he couldn't achieve before while stuck in Peter Parker's body/life, which is also a good thing, because this needed to prove it could distance itself from being a second-tier Spider-Man title, and it di more

I didn't have any expectation, but this title show my promise right ahead. Festival I liked that Superior have a team of it's own. Once again he paid for it, but this time not goons but former C rated super-vilains. I also like that Anna-Maria is smart enough to see through otto new identity. And I'm hyped about is futur fight with Terrax. I never imagined a fight alone between Parker & Terrax (To be fair he did have a adventure against Firelord, but If I remember correctly he was overtake). Cover - I take the vilain variant, not related but so beautiful ! 1/2 Writing - I enjoy this issue a lot. It's different of Spider-Man, happily. 3/3 Arts - I'm not a fan of the faces but it's alright. I have a issue with the way Still man is drawn more

This was a really good first issue. It catches up new readers on the rather complex status quo of Doc Ock and immediately does away with some of the more ridiculous ideas, like Anna Marie not immediately realizing who he is. I'm glad this is on the West Coast too. We have enough Spiders in New York and this also means we'll probably see villains that aren't used quite as much. Like with West Coast Avengers. Christos Gage writes Doc Ock very well, and I can't wait to read more.

A good start for the comic, pretty much sets up everything it has to move the story forward. It would have been better to see more than just exposition though.

The Superior Spider-Man has every part of his life together - except the romantic side. Good thing Anna Maria is there to ... hold him unflinchingly accountable for all his past and potential future crimes?! It's a great development, putting a complicated capstone on what might otherwise risk being a simplistic story. Nice, smooth visuals help the reading experience along that much further.

The art was pretty good but the story overall was kind of boring. Dialogue was good it was the story that was the worse of it. The cliffhanger really is meh. Really hope things get interested soon!
