Full of electrifying action, poignant moments of pathos, and jaw-dropping ending, Storm #12 closes out the Thunder War with a bang and a flourish. This arc did a great job of wrapping up season one of Storm and setting up Rogue Storm and what is to come with Storm in 2026. Not quite the ending I expected for this arc, but excited about what the future brings.

I commend Murewa Ayodele for daring to take an established character like Storm into a completely new and unexpected direction. The way he weaves the cosmic with the personal, the psychological with the mythical is truly fascinating. However, a comic author should never forget that he is writing not just for themselves but for an audience. All their grand concepts will fail if the clarity of the storytelling is lacking. That, unfortunately, is the case in this issue, and it’s not just because of Ayodele’s complex, but sometimes too cryptic writing. You need an extraordinary artist to put those ideas to paper. Mario Santoro, unfortunately, is not that artist. Anyway, I did enjoy this finale to Storm’s first season despite its flaws and I’m looking forward to the second arc (yes, I’m gonna skip the Age of Revelation books. I’m just not interested in alternate universe stuff.) more
