J-TEAM GO!
•  While the Runaways are wards of (LA's Most Venerable Hero) DOC JUSTICE, it's only polite to make themselves useful, right?
•  It's hard to see a downside to fighting alongside this cape-wearing crusader for justice!
•  Their costumes (designed in real-life by the legendary KRIS ANKA) may be secondhand, but they look amazing! And the Doc's got one for every--wait...

This os a Gert heavy issue and I'm really glad for that. The story, art and dialogue are all really good and I can easily recommend this to anyone, though I'd suggest first reading the last issue if you are just jumping onboard. For a while, I thought this book was stuck in a bit of a rut, but I'm digging the direction it is going now and can't wait to see what more is to come! Read Full Review

If Rowell and company can keep it up, this might be the best arc of Runaways yet. Read Full Review

Runaways #28 is an issue full of drama and intrigue, with the hero of the series being so much less than that. Read Full Review

I believe Runaways #28 is a little short on plot. Things progress from where #27 left them, but just by a few baby steps. It's a great deal of fun and it looks fantastic as ever, but this issue may run the risk of blurring together with those around it once the arc is complete. Read Full Review

Runaways #28 brilliantly digs deeper into Gert's insecurities, all while developing the larger plot of Doc Justice's menacing motives. Read Full Review

TL';DR: The panel-to-panel, character-to-character stuff remains some of the best in all sueprhero comics. And the story is definitely an interesting one for the Runaways to face. Read Full Review

I enjoyed this issue of Runaways for what it was. It certainly wasnt the best of them by far, but Andres Genolets art always makes for a fun experience with expressive faces and a happier tone with Cunniffes light coloring. Rainbow Rowell also takes her time with the story, not rushing things to get to a conclusion and that makes for an easy reading experience as we dont have to worry about too many story threads at once. Ultimately, this issue was another easy read in a pretty decent series so far. Read Full Review

Oh no, Doc Justice is a scumbag, who knew? That aside, this was a really good issue, as always. Runaways is so often forgotten, but it's one of Marvel's best titles.

Doc Justice no! You seemed so totally trustworthy and not at all like a secret dick!

Still next door to perfect. Nitpick: The pace is a bit slow and Gert's POV gets tangled with the narration in the first act. But compensatory kudos: That final page is a god-damned work of dialogue art. Doc J is objectifying the kids in the second-worst way possible. And Matt's objections to Gert getting sidelined sketch a powerful "got picked last for dodgeball" kinship between them.

More melancholy from Gert. It's appropriate to the story and her character, but it does get tiresome. Doc Justice feeds us little pieces of information about him at a time, I have my own suspicions, but I'm looking forward to finding out the full story behind this guy.
