Steve McNivens art is gorgeous. He perfectly captures the gritty, bold style and tone of this issue and takes the art to some truly dramatic and beautiful places. Read Full Review

This issue looks great and offers answers which allow for a satisfying enough conclusion even if they are sour answers that are hard to swallow. Possibly the most enjoyable element of this issue is the fact that it's finally over and we can move on. Read Full Review

Alls well that ends...Finally. This last issue is a beautifully rendered comic that ultimately fails to impress in the story department which netted us what we always knew we were going to get... a reincarnated Wolverine in the 616. I just am not convinced we needed 5 issues to do it. Read Full Review

A fine finish to a series that had big ambitions but just didn't get there in the end. The moments where the creative team shine leaves the reader wondering why that wasn't the standard from jump. It has action. It has turns. It hits certain notes. But ultimately it leaves the reader feeling like Marvel must have better plans for what used to be one of its franchise players. Wolverine is the best there is at what he does. Unfortunately, in this issue, what he does just isn't that impressive. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Branden

    Feb 20, 2019

Overall, I sound like I'm bagging on this issue a lot, but it's not bad at its attempts to wrap up what are a bunch of ideas thrown at a wall, that just didn't stick or resonate with anyone. The art is a huge step up from what we've previously gotten, but the series is a disappointment as a whole, especially for a return of one of Marvel's bigger characters. Hopefully this series becomes just a minor footnote in the history of the character, with hot claws in the rear mirror never to be mentioned again. Read Full Review

    ComicBook.com - Jamie Lovett

    Feb 20, 2019

The series offers nothing new to say about Wolverine and no evolution, with Wolverine triumphantly exclaiming that he is the exact same character that he was before this overlong story started. Which leaves readers to wonder why they bothered. Read Full Review

Whether it's a failure of planning or a failure of imagination, Return of Wolverine feels like the most artificial method possible to get the desired result, and as a result feels like one of the more disappointing events Marvel has released in some time. The Ol' Canucklehead might be back in fighting form, but he sure has killed plenty of readers' wallets to get there. Read Full Review

Not the worst finale. I think it was a lot better than the previous issue. Most of the expositing is done and Wolverine is just being Wolverine. And shockingly, Wolverine doing what he does best works. #PrayForDaken

7 ONLY because they got McNiven to draw the whole issue...and I'm being generous. We didn't wait for something this long for it to be this mediocre. He should have stayed dead til u had a story worth putting together

Sigh! If this is how you bring back Logan, then obviously they don't know what to do with him anymore. Soule and the editors failed with this one. Not even McNiven's beautiful art can save it. 6 is for McNiven's art and that's it and that hurts.

This series is just not that good. It has gone from ok to barely ok from start to finish. The story is basic and straight forward. Logan was brought back to be Wolverine in a comic world where I thought we had already filled the void. X-23 was a great Wolverine and Old Man Logan was fitting the more mature material better. Most would be better served to read a synopsis and just pick up when the new Wolverine #1 comes out. We have not gotten a single good Wolverine is returning storyline that was intended to be a Wolverine storyline. The best story about him was in the pages of Thor. The miniseries searching for Wolverine flopped. The Soule Return of Wolverine is a mixed bag at best, and the timing is bad because we have already moved on more

A real shame that this was so bad when Death of Wolverine was so good. I am infinitely glad this isn't an ongoing series. Art is great but other than that not much too like except the line "What's one more". Someone mentioned how great that line was and I completely agree. I don't know why but the last page angered me so much Imao

THE GOOD: -Steve McNiven's art is nice. -We did get some nice action scenes this issue. -"What's one more?" was just a perfectly executed and just generally awesome line. -I liked the last page a lot. THE BAD: -I really don't Persephone. She's just an awful villain. -The spacey feel of this issue really didn't resonate with me. That's just me though. -I really felt like the explanation for Logan's resurrection was weak. -This issue really got boring with Charles Soule's techno-babble plaguing the word-balloons. That may just be an after-effect of my tiredness however. -I've really never been a fan of the cop-out ending, unless it's the Holy Grail. Let me just say this comic shouldn't even be mentioned i more

So this WHOLE STORY happened because this Persephone chick got inspired by a late-night rerun of Moonraker? I can see why they waited until the last possible moment to let THAT cat out of the bag.
