First off, I have no idea what the first few pages were about. They felt jarring, misplaced and not all that important to the plot. Besides that, the story was quite good, and continues its exploration of the cycle of hate.
That being said, I think Normie really took that homeless persons advice way to seriously and in a black and white way. Like he blames himself for the symbiotes naturally violent nature. It isnt his fault, but he took all the wrong messages (also that message to him way very reductive). Its like Pitbulls are naturally violent and we can see from real life statistics, even well trained Pitbulls in loving families still kill/maim people. To me symbiotes are the same way. They have violent tendencies and the blame a kid
for that is kind of insane.
Maybe I am missing something, but I feel like the messaging is a bit muddled. Still enjoyed it overall though. more

I still like this book. I have no idea how far they are going to take it. The battle between Crossbones and Miles was decent. The death of the Hobgoblin acolyte and the fact that Rascal did not abandon Normie are all highlights. Let's see where it goes from here.

A solid issue once again, but the man thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the art. I wasn't big on Jan Bazaldua's art in the previous seven issues, but it wasn't bad by any means and it was fairly solid. However, Campana's art was very hit-or-miss for me here. I initially thought I really was not going to like it when I saw the first page, but I didn't end up hating it. It wasn't terrible at all, but it wasn't really all that great either. While the story was still fairly interesting, I think that what I believe to be a decrease in the art's quality if what solidifies me giving this a 7/10 rather than a 7.5/10. Although, the story itself would have me on the fence.

I'm still interested in how the story plays out, and this installment features some solid plot developments.
The art change threw me for a hard loop, though. Combined with some weak writing in the script's first half, I wound up much more distant from this story than I wanted to be.
Hypothetically, I could get used to these highly stylized visuals if I encountered them in a tabula rasa situation. Thrown into the middle of an arc, they just make everybody look WRONG.
