With an over-reliance on big action scenes and generic cannon-fodder, no-stakes cardboard cut-out villains, this issue ofPunisher winds up being a misstep due to leaning too far into the character's action roots. It might read better in the context of the entire story once this arc's all said and done, but as a single issue, its lack of depth or really much of anything interesting renders it almost instantly forgettable once done reading. This book shows once again why Frank can never care about anyone but between the masterfully drawn fire fights is a grim reminder of who the Punisher really is. I don’t know how many people Castle has killed over the years but this series keeps adding to the body count. And there hasn’t been a Punisher story drawn and told quite like this, ever. The art work explodes off every page and melds seemlessly with the story. I’m a huge fan of this series.

I think my favourite thing about Punisher is that the only thing he’s more ruthless about than killing is being aggressively on-brand at all times.
