One World Under Doom upped the stakes with every issue. And each time, North made it clear that Doom was unbeatable so long as he chose to be unbeatable. On top of that, Doom took actions that could change the world forever (or at least until the next major event). Readers could be forgiven for expecting a reset button type finale. North, Silva, and Curiels final issue is anything but that. One World Under Doom #9 looks great. Artist R.B. Silva and colorist David Curiel make this finale look as epic as possible even without a major action sequence. It is just to bad the narrative choice of how to end Emperor Doom's rain is a swing and miss. There are elements to the fairy tale angle that works. But it is such a dominant narrative device that it creates a feeling that this finale ran out of time in order to maximize its full potential. Read Full Review

The Pax Victoris comes crashing down in One World Under Doom #9. As far as we or anyone in the Marvel Universe can tell, Doctor Doom is dead, and his empire has turned to ash. He claims to have given his life to save the girl he calls family. Plot Desperate, Doctor Doom tries to revive Valeria with his powers, but fails. He embarks on a cosmic journey to achieve this, first attempting to compel the Vishanti, but their magic is not powerful enough. He then travels to the Living Tribunal. The Living Tribunal grants Doom's wish, but at a price: his soul and life. Valeria Richards returns to Latveria with her parents and tells them that Doom saved her. The entire planet descends into chaos after its emperor disappears and abandons everything. Mass hysteria grips the population; while some want to be free of Doom's rule, others want him back. The comic closes with Doctor Doom in Reed Richards' laboratory. They discuss what happened, and Doom gives Reed his will before dy ing in a faint. This comic is emotional, as Doctor Doom opens his heart and shows his vulnerability for the first time. The final pages reveal the "new" Sorceress Supreme, who dresses in scarlet. An excellent event that consistently portrays Doctor Doom as a leader in various shades of gray, allowing him to justify his actions at times. He walks the fine line between tyranny and democracy, and although it's all a deception, he manages to disguise it perfectly. Art It's incredibly detailed, creating a suspenseful atmosphere that blends magic with science fiction in perfect balance with all the heroic poses. The art is as epic as the event itself. It achieves incredibly dramatic and powerful facial expressions. Summary Doctor Doom sacrifices everything to save Valeria in this emotional and brilliantly unexpected finale. more

This event really ended on a high note, centered on character writing with outstanding visuals by RM silva. I cant't wait to read the impact of this conclusion in Fantastic Four, and it's a shame that Sorcerer Surpreme will be written by Steve Orlando, one of the few writers that truly bore me...

This was a surprisingly good series, I think this is my favorite "Doctor Doom" story of all time. Even though it was a little bit c cheesy and the art wasn't my thing, I did like it. I would recommend this event.
