New Mutants #32

As New Mutants #32 continues the adventure, sets the stage and ups the stakes in classic New Mutants fashion, the pacing might get a little too fast (as we're faced with big consequences and the end of this arc nearby), but the spirit and the heart of these characters continues to be heartwarming and well-developed, as well as the philosophical and mutant politics themes keep being the center of a really interesting arc with a fantastic creative team. New Mutants #32 is pretty basic, all things considered. It suffers from coming so soon after a defining run on the book. All of the creators are good, but theyre just not as good as what came before. This story is average at this point, but theres room for improvement. Read Full Review

I love what's going on here and I'll happily call it a good comic -- while remaining aware that my subjective enthusiasm is adding some charity. The storytelling in words and art is…wildly uneven, I guess. When it works it REALLY works, like when the identity themes line up or a fantastically-drawn face amplifies the emotional impact of a conversation. But when things don't work, they risk throwing the story (particularly the development of the plot) entirely off the rails.

A New Mutants book with only one of the New Mutants, and the worst one-- Wolfsbane. The rest are pet characters. This seems like an online special, a mini or a piece of an anthology series, misplaced, mismatched for book title and just not that interested in where this ship is sailing. I am always desperate to pick up any New Mutants book but this may well be the end of that.
