The Ms. Marvel series manages to be consistently sincere in its humor and optimism, even while tackling difficult subjects. There are many times when Ive opened an issue of Ms. Marvel with trepidation, due to a subject matter being handled or where story arc seemed to be headed. Although I have my favorite issues and my criticisms, the series has been consistently wonderful. This arc and solicits for the next few issues are making big promises, and I cant wait to read them. This issue of Ms. Marvel manages to delight and charm even with an absentee protagonist. Zoe, Red Dagger, Mike, Nakia, and Gabe all make it a fun read, and the Inventor proves to be a surprisingly serious antagonist for this lineup. Illustrating that it takes more than a costume to save the city, the tension escalates as one of Ms. Marvels old foes enacts his new place to get revenge on the hero who spurned him the first time. Things get dire in this issue and our cast of would-be heroes are in over their heads. The Inventor is taking his evil plans further by expanding it to Jersey City and the Ms. Marvel team desperately calls for back up. This issue ends with an interesting guest appearance and I'm looking forward to seeing this conclude next issue. Read Full Review

For a comic that is absent of its main character this has been a rather interesting arc. Kamala has been missing and in her absence her friends have tried to carry on as Ms Marvel as best they can. When Zoe is kidnapped by the Inventor the remaining crew with the help of Red Dagger try to take the fight to the Inventor to get her back. Each supporting cast is given a chance to shine and show why we should love them. There is plenty of humor and action as the non-super heroes due their best to put up a fight. When they finally decide they are in over their heads the group decides to use Kamala's old communicator that to contact some major help. There is some great art to accompany a fun story. This is worth the look for sure.

I'm very late on this one, but I only have it this week. But what a pleasure to meet again with this ongoing. I was with a smile all along ... G Willow Wilson prove that Support Character are important. they are a important part of the life in the book, they even can remplace a missing principal character. At one point I wonder if she didn't lie to us & that Kamala was in fact in the outfit of the inventor ??? Zoe is so lovable right now ... Cover - Nicely in link with the story & great 2/2 Writing - I so missed a good story by G Willow Wilson. 3/3 Arts - Ok that not the perfect kind of work. But's it's funny & that have a excess of soul. 2/3 Feeling - It's nice to have a very good Ms.Marvel story. And she isn't even in there. 2/2

The rest of the Marvelettes rescue Zoe, but they recognize their inability to tackle the Inventor. That leads to an awesome call for backup at the end. I like the byplay between Red Dagger and the Marvelettes, I love "maybe that costume IS magic," and I respect the all-ages Social Darwinism 101 debate that develops from the Inventor's monologuing. The art is fast but fun. There's a rare misstep in the coloring; the washed-out pastel look dominating the book is unappealing. Naftali's missing person investigation eating the first three pages is rather unwelcome too.
