Ms. Marvel #12

Mirka Andolfo does a gorgeous job with the art. It feels within the established style of Ms. Marvel, but with her own distinct flavor added. But it's Ian Herring's colors that take it to the next level. I love the warm tones and shades of yellows and reds, and how he changes the tones as the story progresses. Ms. Marvel starts off its Marvel NOW! imprint perfectly asit gives us a story that will be a great jumping on point for new readers whilestill continuing to deal with the consequences and issues that previousstorylines introduced. The issue is funny, serious, heartwarming and everythingin between and it does it all masterfully. This is a issue with less action but nevertheless not one to put down because of that. This is a issue that tackles the meaning of "home" and what to do when you feel you have drifted away from you purpose, your fight. Read Full Review

Ms. Marvel #12 is a fun and enlightening story as Kamala essentially takes a field trip to Pakistan, but I personally would have liked to see Wilson and new artist Andolfo delve a little deeper into the country, the culture and the local superheroics. Read Full Review

The primary theme of the issue still works. The underlying message is both clear and relevant. Kamala Khan is in a state of transition. Like many struggling teenagers who don't understand or even want to understand the complexities of the real world, she struggles to find her place in it. She's still torn and conflicted, but Ms. Marvel #12 establishes that she's still a hero. More than anything else, she'll continue to strive to be a hero. With her idol having failed her, she's going to be that hero on her terms, and it's hard not to cheer her on. Read Full Review

Good start to a new arc, the new price point is annoying, but the story makes it worth it, Batgirl is doing something similar in her own book,but this is much better and more personal. Sadly, I personally didn't like the backup story, and felt it detracted a little.

I feel for Kamala. Her best friend pretty much told her to f-off and now she just needs some breathing room. I liked Wilson's writing you really do feel bad for Kamala but she's in the position that she has to mature and move on and she finally realizes that. The other story just seemed ok. I don't think it was a good placement for the story. You read Kamala's heart wrenching story to only go into Red Widow's journey??? It just doesn't compare. Art is on point and coloring beautifully done.
