Iron Man #17 is an outstanding comic. This is one of the longest single arcs this format has seen, so to keep the reader hanging on every word still is an incredible achievement. This is down to the brilliant writing of Cantwell and the various tremendous artists. It has reached the pinnacle of cosmic potential and yet it remains a human story. This run is absolutely phenomenal on many level. The art is consistently amazing and the writing so gripping. Special kudos to the dialogue, which can be both funny and hear wrenching. Cantwell took an ambitious idea and totally delivered. I love when superhero books don't shy away from showing the shadow of the heroes. Iron man is a layered character with complex motivations and this issue and run as a whole are just the perfect examples. Everything that happens here is build upon previous issues from the start of the run, which shows you that Cantwell had a plan for the book from the starts and follows that. Honestly it all feels like one big story more, it's so concise and to the point, like every issue is part of the puzzle and having s een it all, every part fits so perfectly. more

Its amazing to me how fresh and gripping this is for a character that has been around for so long and toed this line so many times. Cantwell is writing a seminal Iron Man run here and if you are remotely interested in the character I beg you to try it. This book and series has been phenomenal.

I fear cosmic Iron Man will not last long unforuunately. Great artwork, and lots of Hellcat. It's a shame she wasn't like this in her infantile solo series.

Tony's godhood unravels in a predictable -- but not boring -- way. It's obvious that a big ol' reset button is gonna undo most of these consequences, but they're still fun to see thanks to beautiful art and imaginative writing. This Korvac/Iron God saga has gone through some twists and turns that I've found off-putting, but I'm really engaged as it rises toward its climax.
