The Immortal Thor #25 concludes the storyline with the gods of Utgard but generates so many questions, some of which are not met with straightforward answers. While some things add up about the events in this comic, some do not. The direction that this comic sets up for Thor are both a little worrying and intriguing. The art unfortunately never quite turned the corner I hoped for after losing Coccolo, but really interesting stuff for the midpoint of the run. And my dude BRB finally getting some love, love that.

Coming into this series, I knew not to compare this to Immortal Hulk, seeing as it's completely different. I was aware that Immortal Thor would require a lot of baggage and prior knowledge. I also dont want to compare it to other runs like Jason Aaron, and judge it by itself. Unfortunately, this final issue of this series just doesn't resonate with me. Maybe I'm crazy, but Al Ewing's writing is not for me. I do like the idea of Thor rehabilitating villains and making them worthy, but the pacing, old norse dialogue doesn't resonate with me. I didn't really care about the Roxxon or the side characters for some reason. The art was inconsistent, and I honestly forgot a lot of things in this run. It's not bad, it's fine. But again, perhaps if I re-read this run alongside the second half of Al Ewing's run on Thor it would make sense. But for me, it was just whatever. more
