Ghost-Spider #4

Events seem to have begun to crash-in on Gwen from both universes now. Gwen's ability to balance things between two worlds is going to live in McGuire's ability to do the same with the scripts. If McGuire can keep it interesting, everything should continue to swirl appealingly around the page. Still, this style of story could easily lose its appeal if it starts to feel like a dull and formulaic variation on the sort of spider story that's been going on for decades.  Read Full Review

The creative team of McGuire and Miyazawa continue to do a good job withGhost-Spider and capturing Gwens morality and sense of humor. While it's interesting to see Gwen overwhelmed, which we saw at the beginning of the relaunched title, it's also nice to see her breathe a bit and get a foothold on the new life she's carved out for herself. There's plenty of trouble on the way (including one of the Warrens' plans to destroy Gwen's suit), but that's a problem to deal with tomorrow. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Ghost-Spider #4 is probably the title's best issue so far, despite its unfortunate tendency to blur together with previous installments. This one looks great, promotes sympathy and intrigue, and finally (I hope) sets the stage for the direct Ghost-Spider/Jackal confrontation that is perhaps a little overdue. Read Full Review

Gwen's status quo falls into a "waiting for the other shoe to drop" lull. Benji's missing, there's a fresh gang to fight, Gwen actually makes it to band practice. This is the minutiae of a superhero life, and it makes for entertaining reading thanks to dedicated storytelling. But we need some serious plot motion in the immediate future.
