Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is really living up to the mission statement so far. This rescue for Leilani may have exploded into something big, but all the same this is the lengths that you would expect Spider-Man to go for a fellow neighbor. As a whole the third issue of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man takes some time to setup the threat of Under York that Spider-Man, and his new team-up mate Rumor, deal with in their attempts to rescue his neighbor Leilani. I found the previous two issues of the series a bit stronger, but the art team of Cabal and Woodard continue to give the audience some great looking moments. Read Full Review

This is a great series. Tom Taylor is an excellent writer with a great handle on character and dialog. This book also nails spider-man's humor with many laugh-out-loud moments. Cabal's art is impressive. In short, this team should be on Amazing Spider-man instead of Spencer/Ottley.

His neighbor Marnie, actually vintage superhero "the Rumor," drags Spidey into a counter-kidnapping caper in the secret troglodyte city of Under York. The story is really shameless in its pulpy Silver Age simplicity, but the script is too fast and too funny to let the premise wear thin. Some truly great art effortlessly sells both the impossible spectacle of it all and the humanity of the people caught up in it.

The Torch bits could've used a bit more oomph but otherwise all the Spidey adventure was such a fun read and show of real heroics.

I was expecting this book to be a bit more street-level than ASM, but this is a complete opposite of that. However, it's so good that I do not mind it at all.
