AIPT - David Brooke
May 05, 2018Spider-Man has always been funny and Dan Slott has certainly shown that motormouth side of him (while Zdarsky's latest run plays that up too), but it's clear Nick Spencer is ramping up the jokes to 11. Weird Science - Branden Murray
May 14, 2018My thoughts after reading the FCBD issue of the Amazing Spider-Man were that it appeared the new direction for Peter was to have him live with Boomerang, fill the book with awful humor for Spidey, and make it mimic the Disney XD cartoon in feel and appearance. I hope I'm wrong but if this is a sign of the future to come I don't think Ill enjoy this much at all except for looking at the pretty pictures. Read Full Review

This was actually fantastic. Decided to reread Spencer's run while waiting for more on Well's current run and this was such a great start and setup for a new status quo. That being said it's not really new but perfectly encapsulates the first arc, "Back to Basics". This is where we expect Peter to be. It's not where I would like him but this at least feels comfortable and not out of character. I don't remember Spencer being funny in his dialogue but this is great.

It was alright. I can't lie that I was a little disappointed in Spidey's quips and him bringing up that they can't all be zingers was cute but didn't give it a pass to me. I have a friend really excited about the cliffhanger, so maybe others will get more out of it.

Art looked great. I hope the story was meant to be a joke. This ones gonna need some work to make it interesting. I just don't think they have the right team to do it.
