Fans, I want to like this series but its just getting harder and harder to follow as well as the lack of explosive and exciting narrative plot threads. Maybe the book needs a solid change-up? Maybe it needs a shake-up or a new creative team like the main X-MEN book? However, for an issue meant to propel and excite readers moving forward, it seemed to have the opposite effect on this reviewer. Read Full Review

Excalibur joins the Hellfire Gala with a very overstuffed offering that spends more time juggling its massive load of plotlines than really doing the gala and the characters the full justice they deserve. That being said there are several engaging moments and the art is really colorful and fun and captures the moments perfectly just as it does with each issue. Ariana Maher's lettering is truly a delight to behold and her SFX elevates every single page it's on, truly one of the best in comics. Read Full Review

Morgan Le Fay has escaped with the help of Coven Akkaba while the mutants party it up at the Gala. A good issue that leaves me excited for what is to come for Excalibur.

The Gala dumps a major political development in Betsy's lap; Coven Akkaba is about to become a real problem. Embroidered around the edges is some sweet character work, particularly for Rictor. I'll admit that enjoyment of this comic is contingent on sharing, to some degree, the author's priorities for plot and character development. I don't think it's right to call this a bad comic -- or even merely average -- if you don't share those priorities. Unless of course you've got an ax to grind ...

This issue has a lot of moving parts which aren't all compelling as a whole. It's not my favorite issue of the run, but there are good moments. I was actually super surprised by the response to this issue here on CBRU. I expected a lot of maulding over the Brexit analogue, but maybe it was too subtle. Instead I'm seeing a lot of dislike for how Tini Howard writes Gambit, which I don't understand. What did he say that was so offensive, I'm genuinely asking? And also a whole bunch of people who see this as filler. I don't know what to do with this complaint. This is clearly moving along several plotlines from Excalibur. Is everything filler that isn't telling you, "Hey idiots, this is important!" This isn't like subtle moves in plot, either. This is obvious. It's genuinely baffling to me. more

Every time Tini Howard writes Gambit she diminishes him a little bit more with every word he says, let the dude get away from this torture.
