This was an issue that was simply fun to read. The adventure Dr. Strange goes through is exciting every (trippy) step of the way. And, Mark Waid knows what to sprinkle throughout to give it more substance than is noticeable at first glance. With this being just the third beat in this tale, it opens up what could come next. This is an interesting initial study of how Stranges life as a surgeon/magician might come together. Anchoring the story in both the hospital AND a fantasy dimension of magic gives the character a momentum that could carry the series in several different interesting directions. Read Full Review

Dr. Strange the Surgeon Supreme sounds like a cool name, something I'm sure Mark Waid probably pitched jokingly before Marvel gave him the go-ahead. Being a surgeon is a big part of Stephan's origin story, and throughout the years Dr. Strange has found some way to go back to his profession, but it just doesn't scream "ongoing series". The fact that Dr. Strange can use techniques and think like a surgeon is situations is far more intriguing than him actually being in a hospital being a "surgeon". Read Full Review

Dr. Strange exorcises a tattoo demon. It's a brilliant one-shot, but it also ends with a solid tie to the larger story arc. Smart ideas and absolutely gorgeous art; when Mark Waid and Kev Walker are on, they are REALLY ON.

Prelude: Dr. Strange fell a slight bit last issue but maybe this one can make it more consistent. The Good: I love the surgeon side to this issue. Also liked the magical aspect. Walker's art was good. Cool cliffhanger. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: A great issue this time around. I only wish that the book was more consistent.

It's got the same vibes as in the previous iteration which makes sense since Waid did both. Still waiting for this book to grab me but for now it's classic and enjoyable with some nice art by Walker.

This was a good done-in-one story with a new and interesting villain, but the conflict resolution was a bit too simple for my taste, this might have seen better as two issues.
