You need to read Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise with eyes wide open, willing to accept what you get isn't hand-feeding you answers nor delivering a conventional-style story. This is an artistic masterpiece with a vision that's hard to deny or put down. Could the story used a bit more cohesion to make sense of it all? Probably, but then maybe your experience would be disrupted since this is more about the unknowable weirdness of Doctor Strange's daily mission. Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #1 is a strange (*heh*), dreamy, trippy fairytale that follows the titular hero in a strange limbo as he follows a quest whose goal he can't quite remember. The trippy art is an acquired taste, but it suits this story beautifully. Read Full Review

Because Fall Sunrise is so kooky and dubious, however, you could make a case that its meant to be read in full and not in weekly increments like its being published in. Moore's art is the highlight here with visuals that will have you lingering on the page long after you have finished the words. It's a beautiful and beyond unique look that stands out from the rest of the comics on the shelves. You could accuse this book of being just a showcase for some incredible art, but the real joy of Doctor Strange is not so much the stories people tell with him as the license he gives really creative writers and artists just go wild with some really crazy shit — and in that, Moore stands shoulder-to-shoulder with legends like Ditko and P. Craig Russell (whose influence looms large over Moore's approach). This psychedelic cascade might not be everyone's taste, but if you like great artists pushing the limits of the medium as hard as they can, don't miss this one

Was a big fan. No questions have been answered yet - but it's issue 1, so that's not a worry yet. Love the art and the feeling. The art demands attention. Make sure you have plenty of time because you might be rereading and reexamining each page.

It's gorgeous right out of the gate, and by the end, it's become the good kind of mysterious. I won't pretend that I understand it all, or that I expect to once it's complete. It's Jodorowsky-esque in that way, and that's entirely a good thing to me. Sass: I hereby dub this variant "L'Oréal Dr. Strange."
