Absolutely flawless imo with the story telling by the great Cates and like the gritty art by Niko goes great with Donny's story telling. Why Donny has been my favorite writer the past 3 or so years w/Ghost Fleet, Atomahawk, God Country, and Redneck, and his Thanos run that just ended as well. Just a really good writer and glad he is getting his due recognition, and also look forward to his upcoming Ghost Rider and Venom runs.

A very good issue to read after Damnation 4. I like the fact they let us in the dark & with a doubt about with who Stephen take a break. The story was a little less enjoyable, but only because I knowed things wasn't dealing the way they tell that will. I love bat & Dormamuu talking. I will miss cates who do a awesome job taking the mantle of strange & levitating all his way. Cover - Nice, funny & a little related to the story 1.5/2 Writing - A make the impression writing strange is so easy. Great job man ! 3/3 Arts - Love Henrichon arts ... 3/3 Feeling - One to go & then he will see if Waid do fine or not. I still believe Marvel make a mistake their ! 2/2

Great wrap up to Da-TAR-nation with plentiful exploration of what Stephen has gotten himself into. Obviously you need to read the mini-event to get all of the goods but i can see it being a SMALL problem as a stand alone. It works really well because both the Chaos and the quiet moments are well illustrated by Niko Henrichon.

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. Let’s see if I can summarize what’s been going on in Doctor Stranger up to this point and into this issue for those who want to hop on board, especially with Fresh Start on the horizon. There was a tournament of wizards and the winner would become Sorcerer Supreme. Even though Strange won, the Vishanti gave the title to Loki and this drove Strange into a depression where he became a veterinarian and befriended a talking basset hound named Bats. Strange gets so pissed at Loki that he awakens the Sentry, goes to Asgard, steals wood from this Asgardian magically tree to get these epic magic powers, and challenges Loki for this title back. The Void gets released, takes control of Strange for a bit, Loki kills Bats, and Sentry helps Loki and Strange lock the Void back up again. We later find out that Loki was just tricking Strange (surprise surprise) and this never happened. So, Strange gets his title back and as a peace offering, Loki brings back Bats as a ghost. After regaining his title of Sorcerer Supreme, Strange goes out to Las Vegas to raise the entire city and people from the dead, since they were destroy back with evil Cap in Secret Empire. Strange does do it but every spell has a cost, even something small. Well, raising a city and all of its inhabitants is HUGE! So, the price was a portal opened to a hell dimension sending Mephisto up from his hell dimension to take control of the city, make ghost riders out of the Avengers including Strange, and then trapping their souls in the same hell dimension with the likes of Dormammu, Nightmare, and Shuma-Gorath. Wong sends Blade, Iron Fist, Ben Reilly, Johnny Blaze, Man Thing, Voodoo, and more to come help Strange escape this predicament. But by this time, Strange is already in hell. opens up the portal to go back to earth while the Avengers stay to fight off Dormammu and the other evil hordes in hell. Now, this is the part where if you want the gruesome details, you need to read Damnation as well. So go check out that review! If not, here is a summary. Johnny Blaze went to the hell dimension and became the new king of hell and released the Avengers souls, as well as the souls of the inhabitants of Vegas, and defeated Mephisto with some magic lightening and imprisoned him

So, Strange gives Zelma, his love interest/ apprentice a call in hopes to get out of this depression he’s in. And Yada-yada-yada, we are all caught up! Now, Cates writing is fun, humorous, exciting, and very creative. He likes to give cameos in this book and throw in some big names even if it’s only for a little bit for comedic

involvement. But it fits with the story and totally adds to it in the process. I personally have never read a Doctor Strange run before in my life. He was always a character that I would get glimpses of in other books, read summaries about, and read issues of importance here and there. But never an entire run. I heard so many good things that I just had to give it a try. And let me tell you, I’m hooked. I know Fresh Start is coming and the landscape of Marvel is changing but the writing lately

Loose ends are tied up and we get the trail to the story ahead. The issue does a good job of summing up what was presented in the pages of the fourth Damnation issue. It is a little bit of a shame because it creates a better ending to the story then where we left off. This moment of Strange still trying to make sure Clea is safe felt like it should have been part of that ending. I said before I think the series would have been helped by being confined to the pages of Doctor Strange with brief crossovers in Iron Fist and Scarlet Spider. Reading this conclusion only makes me feel stronger in that observation. I love the art for this title. It is very fitting and looks beautiful. Unless you have been reading Damnation this issue will not give you much except for the final panel. I would only recommend it if you have been reading this far. Then as I said it is a great ending to the story. more

Dr. Strange leapfrogs his personal story right past the end of Damnation. Magnificent monster-fighting art, solid humor with Bats, and some quality character work make this a thoroughly impressive comic. I'm not sure I agree with the title page's suggestion that this takes place "concurrently" with Damnation #4, though; you really need to read that issue before this one.

So you can just lie to Dormammu, why not? There's a hint at Doctor Strange having romantic feelings toward Zelma, which is awkward and hopefully not intentional.
