Deadpool #1

Deadpool is indeed back in business. It seems that his time being a big star superhero has been put on halt for the Merc With a Mouth getting back to his roots. This first issue was action-packed, beautifully violent, exposed, witty, and just about anything that you would associate with Deadpool in general. I would also love to see more linking between Deadpool's thoughts. Though his character is known to be random and it adds on to his likability, the travel between consciousness needs to be tightened. I loved traveling in-between his soliloquies and hearing him create scenarios. I saw how these scenarios faintly linked together with the loneliness of his condition, which was initially a beautiful add-on. With this, I believe that the writer should take the risks that is there. Either tighten up the linking between DP's mind or make it so random that it makes the humor jarring. Deadpool presents plenty risks that could be taken. There will be much to gain, from taking the character through that journey. Read Full Review

Reboots or new #1s in established comic runs can be hit or miss at best, but the team behind Deadpool #1 appears to be firing on all cylinders. By leaning heavily into the characters self aware nature, Skottie is able to establish a fresh start for both newcomers and series veterans alike. This comic isn't perfect but there's enough here to show that Skottie Young and the art team can create a great series when they find their footing. Nic Klein's quality artwork is already something to look forward to. Where this comic succeeds most is in its role as a jumping on point for new fans. Whether fans of Gerry Duggan's previous run with this character will be satisfied remains to be seen but I'm optimistic they will given enough time.  Read Full Review

It can't be easy, launching a character with as much pressure and expectations as Deadpool - both because of the character's box office legs, as well as Gerry Duggan's record-setting five-year-run with the Regenerating Degenerate. Generally, Deadpool 2018 could be a good time. It hasn't shown itself in its best light so far, harbouring many issues that plague a middle-of-the-road story, but I have faith that with the love it deserves, this reboot of Wade Wilson's pottymouthed mercenary could be a corker. Read Full Review

There are signs for potential throughout this first issue that still give me hope for this series to blossom into a beautiful, violent, and hilarious butterfly of a book. The art direction is great, the supporting cast is wonderful, and some jokes really land. Unfortunately, most the jokes miss and there's a forced attempt to make this Wade more like movie Wade. I have been waiting for a good Deadpool since the writers of Daniel Way Deadpool. I feel this is going in the right directions and movie how the movie are show casing. Great take also on trying to tell you own story!

Deadpool struggles to return to the merc-ing biz armed only with corny jokes and Negasonic Teenage Warhead as his shamelessly cinema-synergized sidekick. The art is grubby, but it matches the book's tone flawlessly and it's packed with tons of fun details. The plot moves slowly; each development is paused so that we can go prospecting for situational humor. Some of the diggings are more productive than others. Unfortunately, Wade's own attempts at humor are a weak spot so far, but it's still early days. And this issue certainly isn't short of funny coming from other sources. I love that the script isn't quite the random pinball game it appears at first glance. Note that after Wade despairs of low-rent jobs like killing bikers, the Monume ntal Event the script queues up for him is slaying a Celestial - one with a distinctly biker-ish appearance. That there's an ironic theme, son! more

The main story was adequate and pretty fine, the backup feature though was a chore and all of the humour missed it's mark.

I did Really like the story and the humor .. but man the art wasn't for me .. it wasn't good at all it felt like garbage .. but i liked the guardians and the avengers showing up out of nowhere .. so i hope they change the art a little bit in the upcoming issues .. and i hope we see some good stories ..

It's ok. Nic Klein's art is on point. Skottie will have to get better. The back up story wasn't good. Again the art here saves it but the writing is missing the mark.
