Sure your mileage with the referential humor may vary, but I loved it. It's nice feeling seeing and reading jokes that are for me, a terminally online X-Men gay who is not above laughing at a dick joke. Deadpool #3 has a few fun character moments and keeps gradually unveiling what Carnage Jr. (Wade Jr.? Jury is till out on that one) is and how it relates to Wade. There's not much else, and the issue is even surprisingly light on action scenes. Read Full Review

We also get Doc Ock and Harrower causing mayhem at a bar and later the zoo and various other interludes of people talking about how they want Deadpool dead. It's certainly weird Deadpool storytelling, including various Harrower mutated creations along with all of the symbiote stuff, but there's not enough here to keep my interest or any reason to stick around to see how any of this eventually pays off. I'm actually enjoying a Deadpool book for the first time in a long while. It's a tough character to get right and Wong is cracking the code in issue 3 with the help of Coccolo on art who makes it all work.

This run has been so much fun so far. Wade and Valentine's zoo date was very enjoyable, as was the diner stuff with Otto and Harrower. Lady Deathstrike getting the new offer to kill Otto AND Wade was a nice way to keep her involved as well, without just making her upset with Wade. The symbiote inside of Wade also has a lot of potential to be entertaining. Such a weird book that is so fun.

There's a lot of brunch in this issue, isn't there? I adore the character work and (most of) the dialogue. And I'm pretty fond of the art; it's highly refined and I really dig its distinctive style. There's not a lot of forward story motion, though, and some plot holes open up as the issue progresses. But it's cute, charming, fun, and a little bit gross--which are exactly the things I like in a Deadpool story. I won't rate it as great, but it's definitely very good in my book.
