Daredevil #605

Soule is in his element in this book, and the art crew he's picked are perfect for Daredevil. This was easily one of the better stories Marvel has published in years, and is one of those rare times where a big character story could have easily been expanded into an event comic. Read Full Review

Charles Soule and Mike Henderson has taken readers on a crazy ride, one filled with demons, warrior priests with jetpacks and plenty of strange twists and turns. On one level, I don't know if all of the zaniness is the best fit for a grounded hero like Daredevil, but honestly it was fun to see what insane stuff would happen this issue. Read Full Review

Charles Soule wrapped up the conflict with the Hand in a satisfying fashion in Daredevil #605. Throughout the issue Soule was able to show how far Daredevil has come as he inspired those around him that they will defeat the Hand. While Daredevil and his allies did win Soule used the ending to create several stories involving Elektra, Wilson Fisk and others to build a strong foundation for future story arcs. Having that foundation built will excite the majority fans for what the future of Soule's Daredevil series. Read Full Review

Daredevil #605 confirms that Matt Murdock lives a strange, strange life. While not the greatest issue ever, Daredevil #605 is a lot of fun and I enjoyed my time reading it. Yes, it has a lot of goofiness to it, but to me, that is part of its charm. Charles Soule continues to build upon everything he has done since this series launched; I am very interested to see where he is taking it. A lot of great moments here. Commissioner Karnik standing up for Blindspot was heartwarming and awesome, The battle of City Hall was epic, and the reveal that Fisk did in fact fix the vote creates an interesting set-up for the future. On top of that, I thought Soule's writing in this issue was inspiring and Henderson's art was decent. An epic conclusion to the Mayor Murdock arc!

All in all, a solid issue. It’s a little out there for a Daredevil comic. I prefer my Daredevil gritty and mired in reality, but I still thought it was pretty good. Personally, I really like the art.

Definitely better than the last 2 issues, but it still is just too out there for me. Soule's Daredevil run has been great up until issue 600 and since has been pretty lackluster. The art doesn't bother me like some people, but the story of the priest army is just a little too much. Hopefully, the next arc turns things around.

The Hand war and the Murdock administration tie themselves up in a pair of related climaxes. The raw storytelling fundamentals for an all-time great conclusion are here, but a multitude of flea bites pull this story down significantly. The art is small-time, making all the action - ESPECIALLY the Battle of City Hall - look cheap and insufficiently epic. The dialogue features way too much clumsiness. The pettiest but most memorable fault, for me, is that the author would have to massage all of two lines to make a solid continuity connection with the last volume of Jessica Jones, but he just can't be arsed.
