Summary: Due to the rain, DD uses a cab to follow another car containing two city politicians who are involved in a drug ring. DD jumps out of the cab onto the top of the other car as Phalen strangles to death Gromosky, who wanted out of the drug ring. DD stops the car, then confronts a group of hitmen that were following. DD takes out the hitmen but the stopped cab is shot up. The cab driver, Nigel, who is a former convict, is held as a material witness. He is also being held on other charges for illegally operating the cab. Tired of waiting, Chance bursts into a meeting of the leaders of the drug ring. The ring's boss hires him to kill Nigel before he testifies before a grand jury. DD waits at the safe
house where Nigel is being kept. Chance crashes through the safe house which sends Nigel running outside. DD stops Chance from shooting Nigel. Chance flies away when Nigel enters a nearby truck stop, wearing nothing but a towel. DD follows him inside, where the two are confronted by a group of toughs. Phalen is executed by a police officer working for the drug ring. Later, DD & Nigel get a ride into the city by a truck driver. Nigel leaves DD, refusing to testify, since hearing on the radio that Phalen is dead. Nigel goes to his apartment to find Chance there waiting for him & holding a note from Nigel's wife that she left him. Chance decides to not kill Nigel for beating the odds as an ex-convict & for Phalen being dead. DD comes into the room through a window. Chance flips a coin to decide whether he should kill Nigel, but DD hits it in the air with his billy club. After Chance jets through the window, Nigel finds that the coin has heads on both sides (he lives). DD talks to Nigel in a cab after he testifies to the grand jury. Nigel tells DD that his life is a wreck due to him. Nigel tells him that he is going to go find his wife & kid. He then tells DD to go easier on this cab driver. more
