Everything about Champions works, on every possible level, and superhero comics just don't get much better. I'd be fine if this series never ended. Read Full Review

Jim Zub really knows how to pull the rug from under your feet. This is about the second issue of Champions he has written where for me he hits all the right notes with real world situations for a hero. Champions #2 showed us exactly what consequences you can face when a young hero taking on the world. Every action has a reaction, every decision has a consequence. You are picking your poison to the best of your ability as a hero when things get tough. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Chris Aiken

    Feb 09, 2019

This is a heavy issue for the Champions. Zub is aiming to test the team in a new way by giving them impossible choices and forcing them to experience new dangers. However, tension is welcome. We will learn how they will deal with the consequences of their actions and mistakes. Miles and Amadeus also won't be able to hide the truth for long. Read Full Review

A solid second issue that hints at some major issues for the Champions, Zub is clearly leading the team into a strong second volume. This is quickly becoming one of Marvel's must-read books. Read Full Review

This is one of the best I've read so far. Miles's and Brawn's wish will have a backdraw. You're just too horrified how it will be.

Gut punch, Headshot, swift kick to the jewels, this issue has left my entire emotional spectrum bruised in the best way possible in the matters of storytelling. The worst part is knowing I have to wait an entire month before the next issue.

This was really good. We get to see why Miles and Amadeus made a deal with Mephisto and it's a good reason. This issue is a lot darker and it seems the series will be headed this way from here on out.

We go back in time to see what really happen with Zzzax. And Why both Miles & Amadeus acted as they did after this fight. Cover - Ok I see a link, and it's good. 1.5/2 Writing - Well written & interesting. 3/3 Arts - The art isn't perfect but do the job. Their is even very strong panel. 2.5/3 Feeling - A little too dark for me. Mixed. It's surprising to reboot with this kind of story. It's make me relly uncomfortable. 1/2

An in-depth flashback reveals what happened in Dubai: Why Mephisto is chummy with Miles, why he's so bummed about it, and what Brawn knows. The individual plot beats are rather familiar, but they're assembled neatly into a strong picture at the larger scale. Some nice art really nails the look of a chaotic, tragic fight. The moral trap that Miles has fallen into is full of dreadful dramatic promise, too. I think even though she gets quickly yoinked back, Kamala's part in this story qualifies as a fridging. She's a tragic prop for Miles to grieve over. I hope she has something to say about this when she figures out what's happened.

I was actually way more into this than previously, the stakes are great and I'm really interested to see how this unfolds. My only issue is that the whole way the mission originally went wrong seemed a little extra.
