Word Of The Nerd - Cat Wyatt

    Mar 22, 2019

I love that this issue brings the past in as well, both with a couple of subtle references, and one major appearance. It's frustrating sometimes to see a series ignore previous events in a character's timeline, so it's refreshing to see them tackling this problem head-on. Read Full Review

    Major Spoilers - Matthew Peterson

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin

    Mar 20, 2019

In its third issue, Captain Marvel slows the plot down to make sure every reader understands both Carol's awesomeness and the scope of the challenge she faces. It's beautifully drawn and strongly written. It proves that this creative team can make Carol's story compelling without constant plot twists. And once that point is proved, the issue closes with an extra-crazy twist just to make sure it's in no danger of losing our attention. Read Full Review

Kelly Thompson showed throughout Captain Marvel #3 that she has gotten a firm grasp on who Carol Danvers is. The chemistry Captain Marvel has with her allies made everyone on the heroes side shine in this issue. Along with the great artwork by Carmen Carnero, Thompson's first story arc Captain Marvel continues to improve with each passing issue. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Jim Werner

    Mar 20, 2019

Captain Marvel continues with a setup issue that ended with a bang. I hope Kelly Thompson keeps the excitement from the cliffhanger going next issue because while this issue looks great, it has some pacing issues throughout. I am still on-board but I am starting to need more from this book. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Kellie Keener

    Mar 23, 2019

Revealing backstory and explaining whats going on on Roosevelt Island was necessary, but adding more action wouldve helped move this story along. The strong contributions from the art team were able to make up for what felt lacking, and this wasnt a bad issue, but compared to the previous two it felt the most drawn out. Read Full Review

This is the issue where the latest Captain Marvel relaunch loses me. Everything in this comic, from the story to the scale to the visual aesthetic to the characters is barely half-thought out, if even that. Read Full Review
