Black Nerd Problems - Keith Reid-Cleveland

The following issues should be a great ride. Steve Rogers is, as always, a vehicle to encapsulate and criticize the American zeitgeist. Only now, instead of fighting some world power overseas, he's fighting a corrupt criminal justice system. He'll likely be changed by the experience for a long time to come. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

Using all of the recent continuity established Ta-Nehisi Coates created a fascinating narrative for Captain America #8 to continue the "Captain Of Nothing" story arc. Not only has Coates put Steve in a dangerous spot, he has also opened up the opportunity for Sharon Carter to step up in a big way. There is no telling where "Captain Of Nothing" will go and that is extremely exciting. If you aren't reading Captain America right now I highly recommend changing that immediately. Read Full Review

The best Captain America story since Ed Brubaker. I was skeptical of Tanehisi Cotes after his Black Panther run, which I found unfocused, full of subplots and a little discursive, but Costss has improved his storytelling and he delivers a compelling and provocative story. The narration by Steve Rogers is brilliant and delivers the thoughtful, honorable, complicated man he is, while at time questioning all he believes in in. However the story is not discursive or preachy, as it's the story itself that creates this crisis of faith. And well, as for the story, it has mystery, the return of old villains, a great supporting cast. Just hoping the jail thing does not goes on too long as jails can get boring. Also, what age is Sharon is suppose more

Super into this. There's some powerful lines in this. This series doesn't really hold back at all. Secret Empire happened and it had consequences. While I liked Waid's run... until Samnee left, I think this run would've fit very well if it came directly after Secret Empire. But I guess Marvel didn't want the backlash.

THE GOOD: -Adam Kubert's art is spot-on. -I just really love this storyline. -That opening scene was perfect. -That title page was really awesome. -Sharon and Fisk's scene was great. -This issue just really delivered on the action scenes toward the end of the issue. -The end has me excited. -Ta-Nehisi Coates has really mastered how to write this series. The first arc was a little bumpy, but this arc is going great. THE BAD: -My only complaint is that this issue is more individual scenes and characters than an issue as a whole.

OK This was a lot better...Kubert kills it, the whole psychological torture scene was great, panel layout was fun and interesting throughout this issue. The writing is fantastic here I finally understand Coates. This has revitalized my interest.

The tension is there and kudos to Coates for creating that environment. Kubert's art was never my favorite but it's OK. Frank martin Jr. makes it better with his colors.

This cap run is moving slower than any other book out there but, it works and if Coates can take all these threads and really deliver, its going to be totally worth it.

This book is pretty slow, borderline on boring at times. Action and feeling of excitement are scarce. But there is just something about this story, this conspiration that keeps me coming back to it. I want to see how Captain America will overcome these obstacles and how he will regain people's trust. Seeing him seemingly reduced to a villain and treated like one is hard.
