This series is the first outside of the Iron Man books to really take advantage of Victor Von Doom's current status quo. That led to a really fun Avengers/Doom team-up in issue #7. Great having Avenger X pop in after the mini series and she was a good villain for the team. Nadia must be Waid's favorite new toy and he uses her well. Phil Noto is a great replacement and makes this issue look beautiful but he's no Del Mundo.

I really liked Phil Noto on art. It's kinda of the lighter version DelMundo and I appreciate that. It is a right fit for the Avengers. I really enjoyed the villain in this one shot and wished there was more chances to use the villain but I know Secret Empire beckons so maybe later on. I also enjoyed the addition of Doom he actually fit in really well and paired with Wasp the two actually fair very well together.

After all the build up in the .1 issues this is what we get? I would’ve thought Avenger X would’ve been a major 4-6 issue arc and instead it’s one. Probably because of Secret Empire. Events are fine but I really hate tie-ins they throw everything off

This is how you end a mini series? In one issue... Avenger X could have easily been a 6 book story arch. I assume Secret Empire's timing really threw the schedule off. I seriously hope this isn't the last of Avenger X.

The Avengers get badly flat-footed and the return of Avenger X turns out to be a big waste of time. Doom and Wasp save the day. Phil Noto's art looks a little better this time around, but the ineptitude of the Avengers has, if anything, gotten worse. This supposedly-top-tier team gets rope-a-doped repeatedly by a very clichéd villain; any six random comics fans would handle Avenger X better than these Avengers do. Above-average art combined with a below-average plot and very middle-of-the-road characterization equals a rather forgettable adventure. The Avengers - and their readers - deserve better.
