Dec 11, 2019ANNIHILATION " SCOURGE: SILVER SURFER #1 is another solid book of the mini event. Dan Abnett nails the voice of Silver Surfer, and this issue gives a lot of answers as to the who, how, and why of the "Scourge". Paul Davidson pulls his own weight, but the star on the art side is Matt Milla and his beautiful coloring. It may be an event nobody asked for, and we'll see how it ends, but ANNIHILATION " SCOURGE: SILVER SURFER #1 is a worthy read. Read Full Review

Dec 11, 2019Following the same formula as all the other one shots in this series readers will know what to expect. Considering this is Dan Abnett of Annihilation fame the writing isn't quite as strong as I'd come to expect. Colors really help to bring out Paul Davidson's stunning art which is probably the highlight of this issue. Read Full Review

Just a perfect issue by Abnett and Davidson and by far the best and most eventful issue of Scourge so far. The art was divine, especially on Silver Surfer himself. Abnett proves hes just as good a writer as he was 10 years ago. Beautiful issue; Silver Surfer done right

I did not expect something of this quality from Dan Abnett. I know, I know, he did great things with Marvel Cosmic over a decade ago, but his recent stints on Aquaman and Justice League Odyssey have made me think less of his work. Hell, even his brief Guardians of Infinity run didn't help. But this was great. I had a really good time with this. I don't know if he's just a lot more comfortable with these characters or what, but I wouldn't mind him writing more Silver Surfer in the future. As a side-note, I am really glad Silver Surfer Black wasn't ignored for this.

Is it the best tie-in issue in this event? Probably yes.

By far the standout issue in this crossover. It's just so refreshing to read Abnett writing Marvel Cosmic stuff again, even if for just a single issue.

This issue's art is jaw-dropping, and it's a real lesson in the power the visual side of the creative team can wield. If Scourge had kicked off with even half as much artistic horsepower as this issue, I probably would have been a fan from day one.
